Was that a forgotten beast?
« on: December 17, 2011, 05:53:44 pm »

"Ananil giant badger" who killed my hauler and drowned my tanner is now flooding my fortress with his blood. He seems to be really hard to kill so I guess it's a forgotten beast? xD How can I see if something is forgotten beast?

How can I kill captured animals or let my dwarfs train on them?

Did it come from the caverns? if not, it's not a forgotten beastie.

EDIT: Also, the game will specifically tell you when an FB enters the map, so it's probably just a normal giant badger.

And this probably belongs in gameplay questions...

I didn't see where it came from but it was roaming around my fortress with other badgers. So what did the 'ananil' mean?

If it killed a dwarf, it probably got a name. So that's what the ananil likely is.

There are a variety of ways. I, for one, lock some of my soldiers into the room they're being held in, and then order the animals to be pastured.

You can attach a lever to a cage to open it.

So you can put it in a sealed chamber, remote open the cage then flood the area with magma or water.
Or send in the army to cut it to pieces.
Or fire bolts from behind fortifications
Or use a grate to drop it off a 20 story fall and watch it explode.
Or release it near a bridge, then retract the bridge when it steps on it.
Or drop it into a tunnel full of weapon traps.

Enjoy it :)

You really like killing animals, don't you? xD

I actually find hunting animals with your soldiers a good way to train them

Could you tell me how to move a cage with animal where I want? xD

You have to build it somewhere, I'd assume. Like any other building, like a bed or a statue.

And from that day onward whenever a bunch of animal cages is gathered in one place, it's called a ZOO!

unless it's a pasture

Giant badgers are cruel saddistic balls of fur and hate. Did anyone know they could paint a wall with a single dwarven baby?.... You know what, I made the Giant badgers sound like sane DF players.
