I'm fairly sure we were beaten back to the room.,  and anways outside is probably filled with zombies from all the noise these idoits are making. mUch safer to stay in a barrciaded room.

So, check the room for any useful items, barricade the door and make sure the it CAN NOT BE OPENED by any means short of explosives by barring it. If there are no windows or other doors, try looking for an air vent.

Then try escaping by that.

Get a carbine instead. Shotguns are useless at great range, their ammon is too bulky, And a we want to stay as far away from these zombies as we can. Shotguns mean getting in closer then comfort. Or hey even better, just get ammo for the gun you already have. Unless you gave it to what's his face.

I've gone duck hunting with an 8 gauge before. As long as you are within 25-30 meters of a target with 00 buckshot you are fine. Plus most streets will only give you that much room anyways. Shotguns also tear more flesh meaning that you can take out legs more easily.

Get an M1 Garand/Carbine. The Garand fires a .30-06 cartridge, which should be fairly easy to find in some hunting stores. Otherwise, go after a Winchester Model '94 and loot the place of all its .30-30 ammo.

Besides, an M16 fires a tiny little .22 caliber bullet. What's that gonna do against a horde of undead?

Of course, there's always Plan D... (i.e. shoot yourself and save the hassle)

You'd be surprised. A high-velocity FMJ .22 round can pierce bones and organs. I read an article on it and whether or not it can be reasonably used for home defense. So you'd have plenty of ammo and you shouldn't have too many problems if you have good aim, because the bullet won't make them flinch if you miss the head.

Either way this debate over which specific gun we should grab is going too far. Lets not be specific and just say carbine, rifle, or shotgun.

I pick carbine, because the ammo isn't too bulky and it's accurate at the range we need (aka close).

I don't give a damn. Escape the blasted hospital, run to a hunting store, grab a semi-auto anything that can fire a .30 caliber bullet, and loot any corresponding ammo.

Oh. Sorry, I was thinking of a .22 long rifle bullet. Silly me...
