Well, there is a concept of failure, right? Now, imagine failing at life. That is what you are doing all the time if you are not worshipping Slask.

You gotta appreciate Slask. He's not exactly a hippy God.

Couple of things:

1) It's a steppe/dry plains rather than a desert.  =P  There are deserts, but blame poor colour skills for difficulty picking that one up.  But there is a long dry season and it favours horses and other grazing animals that can move around a lot.

2) It doesn't matter whether tribes believe you exist, or even that you will protect or aid them.  It is belief in your power that gives you strength.  Provided Slask can strike increasing amounts of terror into people, he can thrive off that, even all they do is pray that he won't kill them - because that means they believe that he can.

Following is helpful, but not essential.  Belief is what grants power (although following does grant compliance with less threats).  Slask's problem is that it gets difficult to take killing lots of people up a notch without depleting your powerbase significantly.  But he's got plenty of scope for fear to come yet...

Torture, serial mutilation, mental breaking, supernatural events, threat of death, threats to family or friends... There are so many ways to inspire fear...

...

I sound slightly like a serial killer, don't I? D:

But, I'll stick to the pack part when the villagers give in and accept Slask as their alpha.

Hey hey hey.

Here's an idea: let the GM deal with the quinsequonces of folk's actions, yeah? Arguin' about it in the OOC thread ain't fun or useful.

On a more cheerful note, what direction are people thinking of sending their tribes in? I'm thinking commerce for my guys. Bloody desert ain't good for much else, right?
The only direction Promidalchus CAN send his tribe is into baseless debauchery.
He is the god of nature, after all.

E: Actually, the Slask thing makes me think of a short story I once read. A town was plagued by creatures that fed off of fear, and after killing nearly the entire population off they ascended to near-godhood using only the fear of the remaining 5 or so.

Now that I think about it, the only gods I can see being worshiped are the earth ones, the light guy, the weather guy, the water dude.
then theirs gods like the plotting god, the god of magic, the god of war who's worshipers are situational.
then the god of nature and the god of forest, and well me, but I'm weird.

So (ignore this cause it's just me rambling, in fact ignore everything I've ever said.)

The 5 divines (earth, other earth but different, the sun/light god, the weather god, and the sea god.) these guys will probably be universally worshiped.

Then the 3 cults (secrets, magic, battle)  these guys would only be worshiped by mages or warriors.  secrets guy would be like spys, or anyone who values knowledge, possibly tactians, since the whole plotting thing.

Then the pagan gods who are all about nature being nature. except for me, I'm simply a guy who people believe in and some times pray to.  I'm like satan I guess *shrug*.

Right.

Do I foresee a crusade against Jilganheim, Slask and Promidalchus followers?

Nah, I'm more of a sometimes prayed to god.

You guys are a; what's that you're crying? BAM here's some powers, go kill some peeps.

Or in your case.. what's that you'e  crying?  I'll give you something to cry about, BAM decapitated with your guts everywhere.

I'm sure Jilganheim will get along with Prommy (which is what he will call you btw), but he probably won't like Slask at all.

Right, I'm torn.

First act: Make killing someone stimulate the pleasure center of the brain in anyone of the wolf clan, or bring the child back to life so Slask have a sizable tribe?

I'm thinking former.

Well he doesn't like murder, and I doubt slask has a very good sense of humor.  Actually flip what I said, Jilganheim is gonna love you, YOU'RE gonna hate him.

I'm about half way through the turn.  The rest will get done tomorrow and then finished whenever we get the last act.  Slask's turn has been done, so if you change it do tell me.  I think you'll like the result, though.

Edit:  I had a horrible thought.  You know how long-lived mortals tend to get made in this sort of thing?  Remember the start of the Old Testament, how patriarchs like Methuselah are supposed to have lived 960 years and we assume they made those numbers up to fill in gaps in history?

What if they weren't made up at all?  o_o

Here's the thing; I don't plan to have a cult at all. I'm actually pushing them to worship some other god; the god/goddess of plots can't be the one god over all; that ain't healthy for a society nor does Orseth like being at the forefront.

Ah right right, still you can't prevent people from worshiping you, unless you're completely unknown I guess.

Also plots is a terrible sphere, it makes you seem like you're.. you know plotting.  Which seems counterproductive to what you want, which is balance and being neutral.  Unless you really are plotting something, in which case it makes perfect sense... kinda.  It'd sorta be like being called Captain Backstab and trying to join the justice league.  Which is why I always uncanonly refer to you as the god of seeecreets.

That or you're secretly the god of farming... IGNORE THAT, in fact IGNORE EVERYTHING I'VE SAID!

Looks like Jillgy has jokes, mwuahahaha

Meh, plots don't always have to be for evil you know. A plot to remove a corrupt king or trying encourage reform can be called a plot...and w

Scratch that. I actually bothered to check the definition...Must kill self for fail.

Edit: Iituem, would it be possible to rename my sphere to trickery, cunning, or planning?
