Personnally, I prefer waiting to have more informations on it so the names should be more accurate.

>Be passive. They do not have aggressive features such as claws or sharp teeth, so we can bet they're herbivore.

Besides, does the Grey native have any features matching a potential carnivorous behaviour? as in, does it have claws, sharp teeth and so on?

 :o

That would be my expression when faced with those Brown...aliens.

Also, I have not seen a fence yet but if those are angered, it might make our fences useless.

Looks like an Earth Rhino to me, Order everyone to return to work, to NOT harm the brown aliens, to act natural.

>Be passive. They do not have aggressive features such as claws or sharp teeth, so we can bet they're herbivore.

Order Ardin to continue research and analysis of plant flora, also the alien corpse if it could be fed to the cloning machine.

EDIT: Specifically, analyze the half alien corpse if you could find anything of importance to survival (other than clone food)

> Once they are gone, send some clones to look at where ever the aliens came from.
Its gonna be night soon. Good idea.

Ready the fencing.

I say we wait with naming these creatures, at least until we know a bit more of them.

Hmm, I just realized that it might be a good strategy to eat clones rather than the native life directly, for safety reasons. As in, clones eat native life, but we personally eat newly grown clones that haven't eaten anything yet just in case there are long term health hazards.

Last resort option.

We are scientist.

We need to experiment. To discover these new plants.

For a moment there, I thought you meant eat the ones already living out their lives.

{Also, no other suggestions other than Building a fence, Scouting to the East and Ignoring those Brown Aliens? Two turns until night. We might die with just three lasers, sleeping clones holding two of them and without protection. Oh and we are scientist, this means a lot.}

Would we not require Recycling Tanks for that sort of thing?

No, like this:

* Gather plants.
* Feed plants to clone maker, wich refines them and separates out waste in way that are presumably better than anything else we have given they result in something clean enough to grow clones in.
* Grow a clone, which consists of meat we know terrestrial and thus is safe to eat.
* Do not alow it to eat, as that might contaminate the meat.
* Cut of one limb at a time and eat it, keeping the clone alive so it stays fresh.

Clones for eating would be kept separate from the others which are just handled normally.

Hey, these are the Dwarf Fortress forums, we think this kind of thing is Fun. Also, "unethical experiments" being conducted by us was one of the very first things mentioned. Also, these are mindless clones, probably not even using human DNA.

I'm against this.

Also Fencing is the better thing we can do at the moment. we lack the material for building lasers and combat clones.

Isn't the genetic base on cloned cloned food going to be sterile? And doesn't our scientist have his own morals even if he is that eccentric?

EDIT: Just remembered he was exiled...

While I approve of your Practical plan some big questions are how long do these clones grow? Will we get enough food? Is it a waste of energy? And is it really worth it in the long term? I mean these clones have the same biology as you. So just have them eat everything for a week, while you eat the clones. Once you are sure there are no instant or slow acting problem switch to a more varied diet.

Now I am against it, we could scavenge or depend on agriculture for food. Currently, clones take nearly a day to grow and the three in the vats are menial workers. Also, they do require sustenance easily provided by hunting/leftover plant mass.

However if anyone knows our food supply level, could they post it? The only threat that looks deadly now are aliens or viruses or the food we're currently eating. The night too.

Besides, if we don't try every new food we might not get superpowers from some strange chemical!

>Check food supply - Agriculture Module
>Create a fenced perimeter [Need suggestions on placement]
>Attend to research and examination of clones/alien flora and fauna
>Passively continue everything, ignoring the scary Brown aliens.

No, don't eat the clones! They are of much more use to us alive. It should cost much, MUCH more energy/food/resources to create a clone than their value in food! Order those clones to do some farming instead. Growing food is much more efficient and profitable, even if you don't give a hoot about moral ethics. Also, try taming the six-legged beasties if careful observation proves them to be useful. What is their diet? Are they warm-blooded? Are they noisy/smelly? Are they passive or agressive, or just very defensive yet calm? They seem to be traveling in small groups, perhaps they could be herd animals (although 3 individuals isn't really a herd). Anyway, beast of burden + mount + food source all in one = win. They look nice too.

TL;DR: Dont eat clones, grow plant food, tame the hexapod alien rhinobisons.
