I used to use DT alot, until I took an arrow in the knee. Just kidding about that, that joke is getting pretty old now. But for real I haven't used DT in forever.

So I tried building that underwater building.

Quick notes: start it in the MIDDLE of the hole. I lost at least thirty dorfs tying to build the basic scaffolding because the water force pushed them down into the water.

Alternately, only use War Dwarves to build it. They can swim.

From the journal of Athra

2nd of Sandstone, Year 33, Mid-Autumn
Why in the name of Armok do I feel like I forgot what I was doing? Whatever. Must have been some bad rum. I have been focused on just fixing the hospital up, but there seems to be little room for anything with the beds placed where they are. I am going to just take this whole place apart and put everything in a better organized and balanced fashion. Well, I would if every busy hand was not tied down , moving furniture from the workplaces into the new storage place I had dug out. That should help speed up production though.

19th of Sandstone, Year 33, Mid-Autumn
An amazing thing just happened today. Birth. Admittedly, a birth in itself is little but to gawk at now-a-days, but we have had a monumental type birth. This ones new to everyone here.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
We now have three more mouths to feed!  I think I will bring out the good wine and ale!

God. Migrants. I don’t feel like dealing with them today.

11th Timber, Year 33, Late Autumn
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Magma Factory is almost complete. Just have to fill the chamber with our beautifully red liquid fire.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Won’t take long until everything is up and running at full capacity and we can start working toward becoming self sufficient in making our own metal. Just need to find a nice, thick vain. Speaking of which, I am thirsty. Good thing we have some fresh wine. Not whip wine, but wine non-the-less.

14th Timber, Year 33, Late Autumn
Traders! Perfect timing. I just had a full line turtle shell jewelry for them. Let’s hope that it’s worth quadruple its weight in gold.
I also had prepared a document of possible things we might need. Of course I added in the basic metals and such, but I put emphasis on getting weapons and medical supplies. I don’t want to waste metal on weapons yet. At least until closer to the end of my term. I have put so little of a view of military matters that, to balance everything off, I think I might spent all of next year in the military myself. It might do my weak stature some good to gain some muscles.
Night of 14th Timber, Year 33, Late Autumn
They loved the beauty, but it wasn’t worth much. I am going to have our stone dwarfs turn out some goods as quickly as possible to get more than just some bars of metal, ale, and milk.

5th Moonstone, Year 33, Early Wintoer
I hate the cold as much as I hate cave spiders, but, I guess some good things can come out of Winter. Someone just got possessed and ran off to the clothers shop. Maybe he will make a matching sock to the expensive one we have laying around matching sock. In other news, we lost a pick down in the lava pit, but its ok, because, when it fills up, we can make a dozen more. . . . . In fact, I will make that our first order from our new factory. I wounder if any of the others would like any special request? For the fort of course. Unless its a request from special residents, such as nobles, of whom want a room anyway. (OOC: hint hint if you want to write your own thing.)

18th Moonstone, Year 33, Early Winter
I heard that she finally got started,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
but I am unhappy that she had to use spider silk. I had to allot some our good resources for that expensive waste made from the hind side of a disgusting creature that beats Elves in an ugly contest. And she used some of the good materials along with it. I could have used those to make objects of beauty . . . not this crap.

21st Moonstone, Year 33, Early Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Its. . . a shoe. Better than that sock, I guess.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
GOD DANM IT!!!!!!! $&##*ING *#$!!&ER OF *&$##&DOM!!!!!!

28th Moonstone, Year 33, Early Winter
Two of our young ones just reached childhood. We are having a party to celebrate. I have even been invited because I am a friend of a friend of a father’s friend’s son. The best thing about this is, they give out double the booze when one reaches childhood. I think I will bring out a barrel of my secret whip wine collection for the celebration. Might even give the little tikes a barrel each.

1st Opal, 33, Mid-Winter
I don’t know why, but I feel like having two whips made. I like whips. They make the most satisfying cracks. And I am not talking about when you snap the whip.

19th Opal, 33, Mid-Winter
Pressure. . . Flashflood. . . . Drowning. . . . What am I going to tell her husband? First thing first. I have to block off that area from the rest of the Fortress. Next thing is I have to solve the flooding issue. I think I have a way but it will take all the dwarfpower I can muster and the rest of my year to do it. All other project have to be stopped.  Hopefully my successor will be able to tell what it is that I am trying to accomplish, if we live that long.

19th Obsidian, 33, Late Winter
One whole month of worry and anger. I broke down for one whole month. We lost two dwarfs and our Liaison.  I lost my temper and my beard. Of course I had a secret one made, but I don’t think I am fooling anyone. As soon as it turns spring, I am out of this. It’s too much for one dwarf. I saw a bloody wall of water.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That’s nearly enough to crack any dwarf. I was just not made for a lead role. I am going to have to step down. I . . . . I know what I am going to do. I should write something more cheerful down. Earlier this month we had another set of triplets.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The parents and friends of the family partied, but not for long. Bunch work needed to be done. I am draining the whole lake and giving these bodies their proper due, the hard way.

30th Obsidian, 33, Late Winter
I feel as if have put some serious strain on the world with my many mistakes. The large hole I made, hoping to drain out the water from the lake, retrieve the bodies, and close up said hole so that the lake my return to its full glory, just managed to make a lake in the cave. Granted, I just made the first artificial, underground lake

, and the largest to be attempted for many years to come, it was not my plan. Nor did my plan actually go anywhere. It also seems as though anger is starting to rise from my leadership style, so it might be best if I back off for a while and wait until things blow over or until this place is at its worse to come back. I have made a plan for a secret training room behind my bedroom, where i will be able to practice and improve my tecnique with the whip. once that is complete, I will retire until need for my services reemerges.
