I'm gonna point out that my co-ordinates for my sun is not on the map.

Also, I'll do my turn Sunday, MAYBE tomorrow. Quite a bit to think about! :P
Fixed I think, sorry about that...

Do you mean that second comment in a good way or a bad way?

Interesting setup.  No local room to expand, but a high industrial capacity to start out with.  Clearly, I am moved to expand outward, which means I need more fuel.  Starting on the edge has implications, but will it prove a benefit or a hindrance?

Do buildings of the same type stack?

The Grantar civilization was a long time coming.  Evolution produced the species as it is today nearly 200 thousand years ago, with the first agriculture appearing 50 thousand years ago.  Cities started to form five thousand years after that.  Electricity was harnessed around eighteen hundred years ago, the atom five hundred, and FTL travel just fifty short years ago.

It took that long for them to decide what to do with it.  As the only planet orbiting their sun, few imagined that there could be worlds beyond what they already knew.  It took a trip into the unknown by a brave explorer to bring the issue to a head.

The Union leadership, united under a three-person executive branch, voted unanimously to proceed with the construction of a full-scale exploration fleet.  The only issue is that the idea of emigration would likely be slow to take hold...

Measures would have to be taken.  For now, a large-scale infrastructure project was initiated- the largest in a century.

Construct a Scout Fleet (1), a Farm (1), a Research Lab (2), and a Herolnuim Refinery (4), for a total of 8 ISU.  Extoll to the population the virtues of space travel to build support for a colonization movement.

Whoops! I guess I jumped into the action a tad bit too late...

Name: Federation of Nations
Description: Human Beings, HQ on the Planet Earth. This civilization is fairly "primitive" in many ways:
Spoiler: Weapons (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Defense (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Aircraft (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Housing (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Resource Gathering (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Space Travel (click to show/hide)
Atmosphere: Oxygen is required for Humans to survive. Without it, they can only last two to three minutes.
Average Lifespan: Approximately 86 years, provided they aren't ill or in the military.
Body Composition: Regular flesh and bone. Without significant armor, Humans don't last long in a firefight.
Planet Type: Variable. 68.7% Ocean, to narrow it down.
Initial Planet Stats (changes resource symbols): (7bp/6fo/3ISU/14fu/4k$) fo means Food, fu means fuel, k means thousands in terms of trade crap, $ means the actual credits used. Iron is a fairly common metal.

I need to create several new types of units, unique to my Human Planet.
Spoiler: Units (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Fleets (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Buildings (click to show/hide)
Hopefully my info is valid for this. I might take my turn tomorrow.

Sorry, this may seem jerkish and I kept forgetting to state it, but human's aren't allowed due to Lore reasons and the cap was five players. I can put you on the waitlist until someone exterminates/enslaves/incorporates another race.
Change some of the stuff from the more earth-like into something vaguely alien...and give me time to look over them and I'll approve you...I think...I dunno...

Also due to certain things, the initial planet stats are randomly generated by a series of complex rolls and things....

@Toaster: First question: Perhaps.
Second question: Houses, farms, and mines stack up to a certain level. Lets say three for the mines, two for refineries, spaceports, looms and smelters and the rest will be capped at a limit I find reasonable.

Sounds good, then.  The first question was rhetorical, really- just me analyzing my start.  I do love a space 4x game- just ask Terenos.

Does everyone but me know everyone else?

Anyway, do you like the setup of the game?

I know Terenos and CyberGenesis from Evil Genius, and Terenos from Freeform Research Space Combat (and I think somewhere else.)  The others, I don't.

Hi!  I'm Toaster, a fan of Dwarf Fortress and LCS, among other non-Bay12 Games.  I am most frequently found in the Mafia subforum, but often partake of RTDs and sometimes of other games in the FGR board.

(And I like the setup so far.  I'll have to beat on it a bit to figure out my best strategy...)

One short conversation But the droid miners of (Ailuren, IV) protests have ceased and work is resumed..

Shiny. Nice to meet you. Although I was being slightly sarcastic about how everyone knows Terenos.

*cough* with the exception of Kestrel, I've rolled with everyone else here before somewhere or another. Ssh I'm popular.
----

The Ailuren had moved to their new home, the engines on the space station dismantled and reprocessed into droids to mine their new world for them. Droids that apparently had demands, and desires. They were not onerous, and the Ailuren could scarce afford a hostile dispute this early in their ascension to the stars.

Construct 1 Scout Fleet (1), 1 Mine Planetside, Ailuren, IV (2) . Payment to Droids, (1) (Total 4)
Reassure populace that the droid 'uprising' has been solved to everyones satisfaction.

Terenos is the reason I'm here at all. :P

Yeah, it's a good thing, Fil. An RP that takes up more time than usual and one I'm still happy to stick with means it's awesome! Just a mixture of said time to take and an outing today means I can't post a good turn yet as fast as I want to.

Name: Romulan Empire
Description: Romulans are fierce warriors hell-bent on destroying everything in their path. After their home planet Romulus was destroyed by experimental "Red Matter" capable of creating a Black Hole with one tiny drop, they endlessly searched for a new home planet. They destroyed many races before, wasting the planets in the process.
Atmosphere: Unknown, sticking to oxygen.
Average Lifespan: Approximately 270 years.
Body Composition: Regular flesh and bone. Without significant armor, Romulans don't last long in a firefight.
Planet Type: Usually rocky.

I need to create several new types of units, unique to my Star Trek-style Planet.
Spoiler: Units (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Buildings (click to show/hide)
Hopefully this is more valid. Put me on the wait-list.
