How would I go about trying to locate a fortress that I played at one point in my world?

Easiest way to find it is to act like you were about to reclaim it, and take note of it's general area. Then when you adventure that way, keep an eye out on the map for it's symbol. With my tileset Dorf Forts share a symbol with crowns.

I managed to find that fortress, but now in another world I'm trying to find a dwarven site.  I'm in the proper area but I am not really sure what exactly I should be looking for.

I've tried that before, and its frustrating. Then I found out that they don't physically exist in this version. Only in legends mode and world-gen. They have a site, sure, and a symbol, but Tarn has only made a gen for human towns and forts, not dwarven, elfin, or goblin sites.

I was thinking it would probably be easier to make a fortress and build it up until it becomes the capital and then leave it to play Adventure in that world.
