England, pay attention!

Have you seen farmers in the UK ????
If you were stuck between one of those and a badger...

Now why would I wasn't to go and do a silly thing like that?  That's like getting between a goblin macelord and a giant cave spider, or dare I say it, a dwarf and the booze stockpile.

Just point one to the other, and get out of the way. Best advice I can give on that. ;)

Most spiders are cute. I'm friendly to the Pholcidae, just not when they walk on my face and coat my roof with webs.

But... But webs keep your homes free of pigeons, homeless people and mosquito bees :(

And the make a great cottage industry to boot!

My dwarves have yet to discover the manifold joy of the silkworm yet. Deforestation, angering elves at killing innocent worms, AND expensive silk all at once?  Awesome!

But, in the meantime I'll settle for letting my goblin visitors entertain the giant spiders in the basement...

The ENTIRE underside of the roof was coated with webs, some attached to precious things I have had for nearly 20 years. I had to clean the webs up. I escorted the daddy-long-legs out because I'm nice.

Never had any problem with violent animals besides a dog or kangaroos.

I know to leave emus well alone when they look at you weird and go 'THRM THRM THRM'. That's only happened once. :D
I've had a mob of kangaroos begin to attack me and my father when we were bushwalking. Dad picked up a log about as big as he was and the kangaroos shat themselves and turned tail.

Ah, good times. Badgers ain't got nuttin' on that.

You know, I grew up rural myself, and the most dangerous animals in my area were cougars and copperheads.

Never been attacked by any wild animals, as most will leave you totally alone unless you jack with them. (In contrast to df, where a fuzzy white rabbit turns into the terrible creature of AHHHH! For no discernable reason whatsoever...)

I have only been attacked by feral domesticated animals. Specifically feral dogs... something I haven't seen much of in df.... surprising, given the number offf war dogs produced.

Yeah, I was attacked by a neighbour's German Shepherd when I was three. I screamed at the top of my lungs and its owner managed to catch it and bring it back. I had scratches. D:

No other animal besides a dog has ever inflicted injury on me.

A german shepherd would at least make an interesting change from my experiences.

For some reason I always got the joy of pitbulls and rotties dumped off by the city people when they got big and stopped being cute.

Hungry dogs with a history of being bred to attack humans in fighting pits is just not a fun day in the woods, let me assure you. :(

Out here, we have bears.

Except that they're a hell of a lot smarter than we think and can figure out doors to houses and cars, they really aren't all that menacing for something that can kill you in one punch. You sort of yell at them and they sag their heads and shuffle off like you caught them with their hands in the cookie jar.

Badgers though, they dig up our roads and kill/injure more people than the bears every year around here. Just doesn't seem right such little tings being able to kill you so quick.

You don't have to worry about daddy long legs'. They're too small to bite humans, even if they are really poisonous. You have to worry about pretty much every other one though. White Tail, Red Back, Funnel Web... Huntsmen are alright though, they're my biological mosquito sentries.

About the most dangerous fauna in my neighborhood are brown snakes.

Btw please don't send badgers to Australia, we're having enough trouble dealing with rabbits and cane toads as it is.

I know they aren't venomous, they tested it on Mythbusters.

Huntsmen are a-ok as long as they don't sit in my things.
I've found white-tails and red-backs in my room before. But down here the funnel-webs we get aren't as deadly as the ones further north. :D

Other than the burrowing, they sound like raccoons. (We have another local pest that destroys roadbeds.... prairie dogs.  The local gov made it illegal to poison them, so now you have to call fish and game and have them vacuumed out with the sucker truck.)

Raccoons are attracted to midden, warmth, and shiny objects, so they tend to actively seek out houses.  Messing with one directly is not advisable. Adult coonies can be quite lethal, and they tend to carry nasty infectious illnesses from being scavengers.

They are a pernicious pest, but still an important species.  Eradicate them, and the skunks and opposums multiply to fill the void.

Gotta love the fact that although Australia has lots of deadly animals, we don't have rabies. Yet.

Are you implying it is because other people are trying as hard as possible to nuke them from orbit before I can even see one? I mean, I knew my country was batshit crazy, but that's a little extreme, don't you think?

Speaking as an American, we are not all that "batshit crazy/"
Speaking as a human, some of us are even crazier than that.
Speaking as a DF player, MAGMAAA!!!

Bring them to Australia, they'll be right at home with the other venom spitting/violent/nasty tempered creatures.
I know you're (probably) not serious, but, really bad idea. Rabbits were evidently "right at home with the venom spitting/violent/nasty tempered creatures," but the creatures weren't at home with the rabbits. And think about what badgers could do, if rabbits could do so much...

Yeah. Anyway, white tails aren't that venomous either, and they're the nice spiders because they hunt other spiders. Good ol' fashioned JUSTICE.
