Jenny takes a seat on the wagon that they came here with and observes the area.

Kate looked around the wagon. According to the map, there was a river called ... Cleaneven, yes that was the name, over to the west. However, the dense fog didn't exactly look inviting... Also, fisherwomen(and men, for that matter) were often dangered much. She had heard stories, in a time before time, of dwarves being molested and ultimatly killed by many a ruthless carp. So, she decided that to survive this wasteland of a world, she must be RUTHLESS! Like a carp! She goes and borrows a ripper(I presume that is whatever you use to chop trees?)if she can, then ask if any non-skilled work is needed. If no, she goes to Cleaneven to try her hand at fishing. Yeeeeessss... those fish wouldn't even know what parted their head and the rest of the body. Yes indeed. Yes, indeed. (*channels Defective Turrets of Portal 2*)

Spoiler: Rolls and Roleplaying (click to show/hide)

Jake, always eager and itching for action, decides to snatch up the nearest drill and quickly delve into the valley willy nilly. Despite urgings from Jesse to mine straight inwards, he mostly mines small patches off of the side of the valley, mining out 1 intact chunk of buried junk, and a small lump of kimberlite.

Jesse tries to get Jake to cut a tunnel straight into the mountain, bu his lack of leadership experience stands him in poor stead.

Sammy picks up a ripper and climbs down to the valley floor, and begins to saw. However, the saw bucks in his unpracticed hands, and he only manages to fell one tree today.

Timothy, as there seems to be no stone to work with, decides that he shall watch for life in the valley. However, after sitting on the hillside for a whole day, he sees nothing but his own comrades, one struggling with a tree, one struggling to get a tunnel dug, and one struggling to get any stone off the side of the valley wall at all.

Jenny sits back down on the wagon and stares off into space. The only interesting thing that happens to her is that she sees a bearded face in the cliff wall if she tilts her head the right way.

Carol goes for a walk in the valley, but other than some cool-looking lichens and mosses, she sees nothing very interesting.

Kate, using her impeccable logic, decides that the best way to fish is with a SAW. Yes. She takes up the other ripper, and marches towards the riverbank, splashing her foot in it before she sees it. She pulls the ripcord, bringing it whirring to life, and sits down to wait by the river, which she notices is quite hot, and that the fog is in fact steam from the hot water. She has a rather hard time seeing any fish in the water, due to the steam, and has a few near-misses. She does not manage to catch anything today.

No, no, you've got it all wrong - the saw is used to kill the fish, not to fish them :-<

Of course I use a fishing tool to fish!

In other news,
Code: [Select]
Kate the Fisherwoman has grown attached to a steel ripper!
Today, I shall pick up the fishing tools I forgot and fish with both the tools and the ripper.

Oh, how stupid of herself! She, in her excitement of getting a ripper, forgot to bring her fishing tools! Kate made a mental note to bring the tools tomorrow, and started the walk back home. One part of her mind noticed the steam and heat, but she shrugged it off.
Back at camp, she noticed the general failure of her companions. Again, she shrugged it off as just a bad day.

She lied down on the floor, contemplating the both the future, in which she gets fish tomorrow, but also the Future with a big F. Someone once said, "the future will be better tomorrow." (also using the word tomorrow again) She only hoped that more fishies will fall prey to her steel ripper and her fishing tools.

FAKEEDIT: If it's night, I'd like to talk to someone, maybe.

With little success in cutting trees the previous day, Sammy decides that a better use of his time would be scouring the surrounding area for edible plants.

Oh, and also fill a bucket of water with some of the river water and check it for radioactivity/contaminents back at the Vault.
