Hey guys, know any good mods for Albion Prelude? Particularly that make the world mode alive and balance the economy a little bit, and maybe a good ship pack.

You should really take your own pick. Maybe you like Battlestar Galactica, i'd rather have my ships somewhat in-canon with the X universe :P

Remember that AP is functionally equivalent to TC, so most TC mods can also be used in AP.

I can't seem to obtain boarding pods in meaningful amounts, where can I find some factories? There's also the issue of Notoriety, Argon are at rank 6, Boron is at 3, Teladi at 5, while everything else except Terrans are negative.

I sometimes find at least 2 in the Argon military outposts, namely the one in Enduring Light and the ones in Argon Sector M148. The wiki claims that you can find a max of 2 in outposts and military bases, max 6 in Albion Prelude.

Boarding pods are one of the things with no factories; they appear out of nowhere in military outposts.

In terms of mods, I really like the XRM; it redoes the economy, revitalises terran areas and adds in several new ships, as well as making fighter combat a bit faster and making the races a lot more distinct than they are now.

Looks like a series I might enjoy. Any suggestions on where to start?

X3, either TC or AP. They're by far the easiest to get into.

Apparently the two expansions are mechanically better in every way (or so I've been told), so just play X3 for the "story" if you want, I guess.

Don't know which one has the biggest spreadsheets tho.

Oh god, infinite patrol mission.

I accepted a patrol mission at Grand Exchange I believe. It would be your normal pirate stomp, nothing amazing. Here's the hitch: Grand Exchange is connected to a 4-sector Xenon-controlled part of space. This means there's pretty much constant trains of a Xenon Q/PX/P leading a bunch of Xenon M/L/Ns to the system and kicking around the local stations and police forces. Patrol missions only complete/advance when you kill all enemies of the government in the sector I think, not just the pirate hordes that spawn. The Xenon come in faster than I can kill them, my military backup and the pirates have long since died, it's just me and the occasional freighter escort team.

Aside from probably being the worst place in the universe to start a trading empire, Grand Exchange is also the place where patrol missions go to die, except they stay in your mission log... The original reward was 250,000 credits + kill credits, I racked up 500,000 credits in kills before I got bored and left. It's a good place to cap some Xenon ships (since you can apparently make the AI fail and capture them) if you can deal with everything else with the group. But, holy hell, there's just so many Xenon ships that unless you're rolling with your own personal army you could never kill them fast enough without dying.

So I installed XRM, but now the AI voice isn't working anymore and some of the ships and subtitles have what looks like their data location instead of what they should have, any idea what could be going on?

You underestimate the firepower of the overtuned hyperion, faster than most M4's and some M3's but all the heavy shielding and weapons you expect from an M6.
Happily tear through the bigger xenon ships with that while your turrets take out the small fry too :)

Although I think you can only get the overtuned one in the poisoned paranid start.

- You will need to navigate to the \mov folder in your AP (addon) directory. you will need to locate the 00044 file and either rename, move, or delete this file. Without doing this you will not get any new custom names said by "betty".

If you've already done that, you'd be better off asking in the XRM thread on the egosoft forums.

Hypes are awesome, although I think a lot of that's due to how OP the Terran Wraith is (swarm missile travelling at 170 m/s and hitting for 125k per warhead. Standard hype goes at 169 and is the fastest ship capable of launching it. This allows the hype to build up clouds of ~40 of these things, and the sheer amount will overwhelm any anti-missile defences, while hitting for a couple of GJ when they impact. AP may have removed the Hype's ability to launch it, however.)

Hyperions are indeed powerful. But I constantly have problems with restocking my missiles.

I decided to make a small 'plex producing Wraiths and Hurricanes for exactly that reason. Both of them are awesome missiles that are irritatingly difficult to get.

The Terran economy is generally crap without intervention, the game's decision system all but obliterates it. If you want to stock up on large quantities of missiles, or god forbid, equip a Skirnir, you either have to build craploads of basic stations or make your own self-sufficient complex.
