Keep in mind that the only way to unfreeze the edges though is to run a constant magma drain off the edge of the map (which is both a pain to set up and consumes quite a bit of FPS). This means that unless you exit part freezes first you are going to end up with a river that drains itself dry every winter (not saying that that is a bad thing, just pointing it out).

ahhhhhhhhhcrap.   I think one of the spots it typically freezes is at the flow-in edge.   Scheisse.   Now I suppose I will have to build a wall after all, but it is just so unsightly and time consuming.  And it will obscure the light from my grail-shaped beacon.  Stupid !physics!.

You can turn temperature off at the appropriate time of year, though this will stop you from using heat-based magma traps (hey, you can still drown things in it) and make any magma spills far less dangerous.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
