I can always send my LAN copy of my game to anyone who has a torrenting program. On top of that, maps will automatically be downloaded and placed in the "Downloads" folder if you don't have them when you join a game. That's how I've accumulated my massive amounts of maps anyway. Then you can go and purge ones you don't like.

This coming Friday or Saturday I will probably be getting the Frozen Thrones expansion. So ill be able to this weekend join in any TF games that are played. I may also be able to host from time to time. As fair warning my connection tends to be crap most of the time.

Also for Roc if you have a battle.net account and you are interested in trying to play a game or two with a few other bay12ers. PM me your battle.net username, and what server you are on. I will do my best to work as a coordinator.

I will tomorrow try to be on the battle.net Eastern American server from 12:00 - 17:00 UTC. I will stay on the public chat network, but will probably only check in every 30 minutes or so. This wont be all that helpful, but hopefully it will help set up a bay12 network on that server.

IceFrog didn't create DOTA.

I remember vividly when DOTA started, and everybody thought it was just another unbalanced AoS clone.

Fixed~

Icey did take over after a while, and is attributed to some of the balance type... junk. DotA's still a freaking uninspired AoS, which my major complaint about it. Fairly polished and well balanced as th'things go, but uninspired. No vision, no ambition, no "epic." Turned an incredible clash between armies into a pissant sport. I'm still a little bitter :P

The low minion count and de-emphasis on strategy approached a good idea when dealing with WC3's technical limitations, but other AoSes managed to work around it without sacrificing hero innovation or interesting mechanics. It's honestly a damn shame DotA has the influence it does, because its legacy is basically raping the potential of AoS-type games.

E: Speaking of which, we totally need to run at least one EotA game. It's a lot more interesting than DotA, and still pretty balanced. I vague remember playing a few AoSes I'd consider "better," but EotA's definitely the easiest to find nowadays. Also the only one I actually remember the name of :P

It's weird that it's in a Blizzard game, because when you put it that way it's totally a Blizzard game.  It's their MO.  Take a niche genre nobody cares about, make it hugely marketable and just a little heartless, and single-handedly put it on the map.

Currently pretty flexible, barring the occasional interruption.

Let's do this. PM me to see how to do Battlenet (I have no idea), or we can just LAN with GameRanger.
