My stab at a space suggestion RP! :-> The setting is my view of space, and may or may not include the Commonwealth saga as some of it.

=+=+=
Your small ship and its crew were traveling FTL when something caused it to veer off the route and spin into the empty intersystem space. Suddenly, the gravity bubble loses cohesion and you are thrown into realtime at half the speed of light. Many winces are shared as the merest hydrogen particle deals a huge punishment to your deflecters. The sub-light arresters fire and slowly deaccelerate you , if only to prevent your ship and its mates from slamming into something bigger than a molecule and being rendered into a considerably less substantial version of yourselves.
The basic sensor pack on board registers a huge body of mass in front of you. One of the crew identifies it as a Interdictor mesh - a humongous framework laced with gravity similators and capable of preventing something from escaping... or popping a gravity bubble.
Inside the mesh is what clearly seems to be a military-grade ship. It is consisted of two large spheres, one bigger than the other, and a array of thin metal planks from where the two spheres meet. It is unlike any other ship you've seen, and as a added effect doesn't seem aerodynamic at all.
Hailing the ship doesn't get a respond, nor does she have a transcoder.
Being the opportunistic folks you are, you board and relieve the ship of its skeleton crew (...literally) and start taking inventory.

The ship is mostly intact and does not have much in the way of comfort.
Judgin by the specs, it has a impressive capability to attack, thick armor, large deflectors and even a shield! But it seems the shield is lacking a number of key componants right now.

Ship : [no-name]
Deflectors: Slightly dented but the better for wear.
Armor: In pristine state.
Shield: Offline

Spoiler: Other (click to show/hide)

What shall you do? What will you name your new ship? Should you take inventory of the ship more carefully, in case there are overlooked supplies? How will you get to your planned route, since you were on a delivery? Do you prefer defense or defence?

Whaa.. only one reply? :-(

Okay... though, are you sure you want to fire a missile with unknown capabilities into the mesh immediately around you? :P

How comes a laser has a finite or short range. Light doesn't stop after all.
Activate the shield, all laser fiser on the mesh.

It doesn't have a finite range :P What I meant was the angle each laser could 'swivel' around to aim was very small.

Also, you are lacking some parts for the shield.
After I regain control of my computer, will update :-)

First, you fire one of the many missiles into the space around you.
The missile flies in a straight line, ignoring the mesh until it gets close to a hunk of metal.
It then explodes and utterly destroys the rock and the mesh around it.

Second, the point defense lasers are all activated and destroy all of the mesh from immediately around you. 240 energy is expended in this process.

You have yet to connect the generator/reactor to the power grid.
