‼Beguiledbreakfast‼ Continues here. Need overseers
« on: December 11, 2011, 04:56:32 pm »

Alright since THe original thread fell by the wayside, i'm taking over this succession game. I'll start a new roster and i'm not going to bother posting the turns we've already done but if you want to join you should probably read the original thread. here:http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=95618.0

Those who have little or no experience with magma are encouraged to join.

Where we live

THe rules are standard, No Raw editing, No HFS unless you Really Know what you're doing, Or unless you have no idea what HFS is. Don't be a dick, Don't kill us all on purpose. Tilesets are fine as long as they're not eyegougingly terrible. And try to make your posts Interesting. You have 7 days IRL to get your turn done and your turn starts and ends on the first of spring.

I reverves the right to shuffle turns as is neccesary in case some has homework or has to work overtime.

the turns are
  • MonkeyfacedPrickleback
  • thegoatgod_pan
  • Stoutpants
  • tommy521
  • Monkeyfacedprickleback
  • Dr Voltron

Pm me to join. or you know whatever.

Journal Of SimianVisage the bristlereared, 1st of Spring. I have been elected as overseer of This Volcano by the local populance. They cited my previous experience as good enough reason for my reinstatemnet into power. I shall do my best to Ensure this City Doesn't sink into the magma.

16th of granite. Goat Fikodiseth the Labour agitator Has Named His Steel short sword Guzkirar. And We couldn't be happier.
On another note I have embarked on the construction of an aquaduct.

19th of felsite.
A vile force of darkness Has arrived!

We are well prepared for this siege I am sure if it were not archers. How ever we are in luck. Their leader though mounted on a mighty Elkbird steed (a feat I thought beyond a goblins meager intelligence) Has decided to post his troops in the valley which funnels our magma flow, while they fire on some animals.

edit they moved out of the way.

(I'll post some pics later, My internet is being slow.)

21st of felsite,
The golbins killed the elves who came to trade and the retreated out of range of our Marksdwarves. SO i had a couple new archery station built and carved into fortifications so now we're peppering the red eyed freaks with gloious bone crossbow bolts. I'll see about getting our men some real metal bolts more worthy of our glorious fortress Guard.
Winter AHem. THat is to say SUMMER has come. It has been a boring spring, no deaths no accidents, the Aquaduct is almost finished though i'm not sure how much use it'll be as it's a long way to our well and we will need more water then our pond is likely to provide.

6th of hematite.
We managed to Drive off the murderous goblins with no losses on our part.
I have begun work on expanding the purification resovoir to hold enough water to properly flood the well and aquaduct.
Anothe project I will work on is the building of windmills. I don't know how much wind we get but hopefully it'll be enough to power a series of pumps.

22nd of Galena.
I don't know how but some magma got into some of the halls. I suspect someone opened a door for a short while but I asked those very doors be locked as soon as I came into power.

It is a mystery.

That makes it the 4th (by my count) unplanned magma flood of Beguiledbreakfast. I salute the continuation of the fine tradition. What did my dwarf-self name his blade?

Guzkirar can't you read?

It translates to simplerighteous if thats what you meant though. I like to think that it's because your dwarf thinks that a sword is the simplest and most righteous way to deal with a problem.

Yeah I admit Guzkirar doesn't immediately translate into simplerighteous in my mind. Maybe one day :o  Pretty badass name.

4th of Limestone

I have created myfirst master piece! It is glorious.

8th of limestone.
I was minding my own business preparing to make some wonderfuls steel weapons but suddenly some fellow in a panic runs up to me and tells me some random stone worker bled to death. Turns out we have had another magma leak, and this time it's not something we can shrug off. The depot has been flooded. I'm going to get to the bottom of this I swear. Firt I'm going to look into making another outside entance Because the one we have now is suddenly unuseable. Then I'm checking every door to make sure they're locked so no one can open them letting the magma out. This won't unmelt that entry door but it should prevent furture mishaps. Time to get to work.

11th of Limestone
If you took note of that moron hauler in the picture i put here last in my last journal entry give yourself a pat on the back. That moron droped a stone in the doorway jamming it open. SO now we've lost the kitchen and still and a few workshop's plus a fair bit of food to the magma. Fcuk. Well time to do some damage control. No one important is at risk yet at least.

I think we had some human traders in the market, but I can't be sure. If they were there there's no trace of them by now.

17th.
The magma has lit the remains in our coffins on fire. I hope we don't get ghosts.

25th of the month of burning.
I've activated some of the draining mechanisims built by previous overseers to help quicken the draining of the magma. There is little else I cand do now but wait.

12th of timber.
Most of the magma has been drained, and is only a 1&2&3 sevenths full.

But An outpost liason has come accompanied by a caravan filled with goods, and we have no market area! well have to fix that.

It looks like we'll be able to salvage the metal which was flooded by the magma. In fact there may be more metal there then there was before. We now have stacks of 25 copper.

I did some Trading with the mountain home shortly before winter came, Traded for all of their wood, as we can't cut enough for ourselves, bought some of their more worthy food, and gypsum plaster.

The magma has receded dow to a seventh of it's former depth, And has completely cooled in some places. I expect that by spring it will have almost completely cooled, and I will have linked the previously flooded rooms to the fort and reflooded the halls, Aas a major part of our defences rely on them being filled with magma. This is unless I fail to make a suitable draining system. I'll get to making magma safe mechanisms immiediatly.
