I'll take a turn, I have no experience with magma whatsoever, however, i have a plan to essentially create inaccessible vaults for a few select dorfs. these vaults would be used for psychological experiments to have a few dorfs left over so that lava won't be to big of a problem.

I expect a lot of !!FUN!!.

3rd of hematite.

In order to speed up the burial of the dead, I have ordered an new mass grave be built, In the foyer north of the kitchens. THe old graveyard/ statue garden has been revived and will soon be filled. It is my hope that by having the coffins closer to the corpses will speed upp the burial process.

After looking through the records i found that of the former overseers only Myself, Vahir, Goat, Mcthunderguts, and Stoutpants survived. I have also disabled the entire military so they may help with burying the dead.

The current well is to far for convienince so I shall modify the current well in the hospitol to access the caverns.

23rd of hematite.
A child went mad today, They just broke down and started raving gibberish. COnsidering the short life expectancy it's safe to say our population has gone down to 96.

We need soap.

Where In the 3 Caverns is the bloody Soapmakers!? Where's The GOD damned ashery for That matter?!

I am pleasantly surprised. It looks like aside from those who die from infection most of the hospitol's patients will recover. Of course They all have Infections and will soon die. Why we had neither soap, nor soapmakers shop, nor even an ashery I do not know. They would have saved many lives and the soapy baths would have increased moral considerably. well they are getting made now.

22nd Malachite.
Migrants arrived bringing us to 107 dwarves. Not quite the number we had before, But still respectably in the triple digits.

25 Malachite.
I called a general Muster of all armed personel. We have 50 49 soldiers.
One of our fresh recruits died of thirst while in hospitol. Sub par care they are giving them.
I have set the two new squads on a rest rest train schedule, since they are only there for emergencies, Plus we don't want to slow down production too much.

21st of Galena.

We were ambushed. By lashers.
I sent out the wrestler squad to delay them so the actual military could have time to wake up from thier vacation.
While the Anguish of Sacks were on their way a herbalist was killed.
Then the Humans arrived, on the other side of the map.
THe lashers are fortunatrly occupied killing a single stubborn dwarf who was saved by his helm.

27th of Sandstone.
A (useless) blacksmith went to retrieve a Silk cloak, And is now on fire.

Luckily he is only a master metal crafter so the fortress loses little, As we can still produce high quality weapons and armour.
Scratch that all we lose is the cloak. It burnt to ash, then it started raining. The rain put out the Blacksmith.

also 27th.
I have made some effort to repair some of our magma traps by reflooding the halls with magma. due to the large drain the refilling of our halls and the refilling of the magma mines, I'm making a secondary, volcano vent to fill the Magma mines quickly.

Winter Has fallen upon us. Thankfully the autumn was uneventful.

22nd of moonstone. I ordered a test run of the magma mines while the augury chamber was going under some modifications.
The mines failed. THe pumps were working and everything but. No magma was coming out of the shafts. I have a few ideas on how to resolve this.

The augury bears ill news. THe body of the sacrifice Showed a Dwarf raising a masterful shield, Which obviously means we Should be on our guard, While the Head of the sacrifice, the seat of knowledge, landed on a scene of An elf killing a twilight freak. This clear battle of good and evil shows that it is combat we should prepare for, But we should prevail victors. WHile I have misgivings about being represented as an elf surely they are better neighbours then twilight freaks. Truly the Grand Engraver Vahir Has been touched by Armok, to have such talent.

1st of obsidion.
A peasant is carrying a flameing sock around lighting everything around him on fire. I could tell him to drop it, but it's sort of funny to watch so i'm going to allow it. It burnt to ash, but at least it'll burn some of the cloth crap outside to ash with it. Also I can't help but fel this wall of fire outside our Gates is a great deterent to those who would do us harm, and Armok told us to be on guard.

4th of Obsidion
A band of rhesus Macaque Are raiding us. Good. We have a lot of worthless crap outside and I already locked the gates to Protect us from the rising threat. Those stupid monkeys are welcome to whatever they can steal.

24th of Obsidion.
After testing the magma mines I believe I have figured out how to finally Get them working.
First We need to Have them Pumps flanked by walls, or else the pressurised Magma will flow out. Secondly Pumps only pressuerise magma from a z-level below, So I dug a ditch which will be filled with magma.

Greetings all! It seems that yet again a overseer has mysteriously been chosen. By the gods? By armok?

Well, I seem to have been the one chosen.

My name is Fikod Asular. I was a planter and an axedwarf for the fiery Avalanches. I like to experiment and break the rules, but I don't like to help people. quite the contrary. I also like cats.

But duty has called. I must fit my new position in my own way, different from any other overseer. Tradition dictates it.

I must become a chymist.

And since I must change, and I must as well initiate change in this shallow fort, I must change my name.

Know me now as Cellmonk Asular, Chymist. My name means Caveidols in the old tongue. Labyrinthine halls stretch in my mind. I know what I must do.

To begin my rein, I ordered an ass dropped down the hospital well. We learned some things from its cries.

I shall soon order another ass dropped into the volcano, to learn of the location of cotton candy, as well as other deep metals.
