What I hate is when you get a civilization with a really impressive, dwarfy name (The Iron of Coalitions? Sweet!) that you can't be from because it forces you to embark with a steel anvil, so you're stuck with something ho-hum like The Past Lenses, or even stupid like The Bodice of Lobsters.

Honorable Mention: In my current world, the polar ocean is called The Sea of Cremation. Um, say what?

Wait, that'd stop you?  I'd go with it, the 200 point handicap only hurts at the start, but seeing "He is a citizen of The Bodice of Lobsters" is forever.

Back on topic, best civ name ever:

The Enjoyable Paddle.  When I found them, I formed The Passionate Roughness and went out to found Boldspear, the Lamentation of Virginity.

My civ name [theres actualy 2 or 3 dorf civs in one world but its my favorite] The Tool of Heating,and I always pick the same group name [The Board of Beards]its like a dwarven company or somthin and I like it.
The only gobo civ is The New Menace.
