Frogmen etc. attacking w/o really hitting underground ri
« on: November 16, 2007, 11:13:00 am »

Hello!
I'm a long time lurker, and I'm posting because I noticed something strange with my latest fortress:

I started on a peak of a mountain and dug down, stair after stair. After a few Z-Levels of digging underground river creatures kept appearing: olmmen, lizardmen, frogmen and the like. It were way too many for my 7 unprepared dwarves.

I still wasn't able to see the actual river. However the stone below my last up/down stair was damp. Were the creatures able to enter the stairs from the damp stone?
I know, that in the old version you got attacked by river creatures, when your dwarves drank too often from it. Now I didn't even see the river, and got attacked by like 1 creature per minute. Even if that is a feature rather than a bug, it was just unfair!
Anyone else with similar a experience?
