Screen probally working right
« on: September 05, 2006, 07:37:00 am »

I'm playing ....d on a Win2K sp4 machine.  I had started sending out a new bunch of builders and paused while picking where to send them.  I came back an hour later and the computer had moved to the desktop (with no screensaver.)  I selected the DwarfFortress button from the bottom of the screen and the program came up overenlarged, with 1/4 of the screen visible.  I pushed F11 and was able to resize things properly.  I played on from there.

I later repeated this while paused during Fortress Mode play.

Conclusion:  please explore what happens when the game is allowed to idle for long periods.

Try updating your video card drivers. As I recall, dwarf fortress actually uses opengl to display, so if your video card has any issues that way, weird stuff could happen.

So you were playing full-screen originally?  It's possible that the solution I came up with for alt-tabbing (which is supposed to be annoying I guess) caused it to misbehave when it received some windows message.
