Dwarven Dodgeball with Smoxut the Minotaur
« on: December 06, 2011, 03:16:23 pm »

Wait, so is this from the thread where we pondered the uses of catapults, which came from the thread about elves and why catapults are useless, which came from the thread about venting rage on captured cyclops, which came from the thread about failing to get cyclops's and goblins to fight? The Evolution of threads are strange indeed.

This will be the last evolution, I promise.  Unless you guys give me another good idea and make me feel compelled to do it.
So, Dodgeball with catapults, I couldn't find the original post but it went something like this.

Quote
You should make a platform and place goblins on it and shot at them with da catapults and the last one standing wins a prize or something.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So here it is, minus the goblins winning prizes, that comes later.  First Smoxut the Minotaur wanted to explain how it works!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It may not be as epic as first planned, but I still felt compelled to share this monstrosity, I'll update how Smoxut does.

Only in a Dwarven shooting gallery do you see the shooters firing at the target from both sides at once.  Get ready to duck those missed shots!

Sadly Smoxut is a godlike dodger and shots seem to miss him even when they hit, I'll drop in a couple hundred goblins or trolls to suplement this.

Combat Logs and ear shots:

Trolls worked nicely, and that was totally worth all the effort!  I just need some elves and a lot of barrels now...

Minotaurs can learn though... I suggest you keep trying until you have a legendary dodger minotaur... then unleash him on some goblins...

So wait, would there be a line I could add in somewhere to make him tameable?

*Catapults are mostly completely useless unless you spam them and even then an atomsmasher is easier and better*

Wiki needs updating :P

The clue is in UNLESS.

Entire fortress of legendary catapult operators vs HFS anyone? :P

My new project, every non-essential dwarf is going to be firing catapults 24/7 while my miners dig microcline for the next several ingame years.

This was my plan all along... MUAH HA HA HA HA HA.
Just joking, I plan ahead that much, can I?
Am I planning right now? Perhaps. Or maybe I'm scheming.
But that's off topic. BACK TO THE MICROLINE!

!!IDEA!!
Catapults vs Ballistae?
(Wooden bolts of course...)

I can test that out, but ballistae have lost my favor due to the fact they don't shoot microcline.

Remember when I said to shoot them off a pillar with catapults? I have a better idea!

Using a series of drawbridges (which subsequently brake), drop a Forgotten Beast onto a second pillar. Beware it's deadly spittle!
Watch it fire off spit at the enemies on the first pillar, and watch them dodge for an eternity from corrosive Beast spit.
No more need for catapults!

Just add tons of catapults!

I can't get GCSs because FBs are guarding the GCSs I need to get the FBs. :(

drop floor tiles on their heads to put them down. You'll always have more FB's to play with, but GCS are expensive and rare.
