Since I have scads of them in the caverns, I modded bugbats to be PET and TRAINABLE.  They are so cute.  They flutter around the bad guys' heads and bite at them, bruising the fat, doing absolutely nothing except giving me funny by imagining my legendary military smashing the crap out of the invading goblins while tiny little bats flutter around gnawing on helmets. 

Plus they have tiny little bugbat babies!

No, there's no other real point to this thread.

Pasture them on a dodge-me trap.  Come the next ambush/siege, you'll find yourself with a handful of named bugbats.  I once had a named buzzard with a giantess on his kill list.

I did the same in one fort.  A fun thing to do is.

1. Build a wall
2. on the "floor" created on the z-level above the new wall build a chain and add bugbat.
3. disassemble the wall

=Flying bug bats chained to the air!!!

Send in swarms of bugbats. If you have enough, they end up like Kryll from gears of war.

It's hard to take it seriously after the whole ears turning into wings thing.

Isn't that basically what Phorid flies do?

Inject their larvae into their host, the larvae eats the ant from the inside - out, then the ant's head falls off, and new phorid fly emerges to join the swarm.

Does the host's head plop off and take to the sky? Or in the case of the Assbat, kisses your arse with it's tongue until it becomes one of them.
