I DO NOT DEAL WITH SUBORDINATES! WHERE IS LORD SSALOSIN?

Korv had done his best to calm down the enraged Nobles but if Lord Ssalosin wouldn't make an appeareance soon... The Door opened and suddenly the conondrum went even louder.

Lord Ssalosin we are waiting here since 1 hour! We want to be heard and we will not suffer your ignorance much longer!
----------
near Aeverys Chambers

Malcador was proud that his eyes and ears still worked so good as to find the assassin. True his own days were over but still he tried to maintain some kind of standard and this little victory did much to raise his spirits. Knowing that the Assassin had propably noticed him too by now he walked into the light and stood there staring at the Hawk silently.
----------

This will not do! How am i beexpected to pay my soldiers? We can't just live from ideas Renard!

Lord Weatherbrook was the most influental of the lords still standing loyal to King Renard and his patience was running out. True the Xenos gave him food to feed his men, but they still needed money, these soldiers had families they left behind which they needed to feed too. And then was the issue with the Xenos Council of Chiefs. They had been united in one idea only: killing the Humans that fell into their lands and now Renard had nothing better to do than to ignore their wishes and go for the Church. This foolish cruasde had been madness altogether but Renard had promised him and the others that the Xenos would join them eagerly but what he had seen was more and more discouraging...

How could they be so insistent? He had too many issues to deal with as-is, and they might need to slow down in their operations, before they exhaust themselves

"Patience is rewarded, impatience punished." clearly he had spent too much time with Sister.

Throne Room

You seem to forget Lord Ssalosin, that we came here and offered you our obedience but if you continue to treat us like little children we may as well meet with the Lords of House Angord.

Before i consent to any vassalage i want a assurance that my children will be taken into the House Guard. Furthermore all Regiments of House Terdy will be lead by a Terdy...

Soon thereafter Lord Ssalosin was flooded with requests, orders, pleas, demands and so on. Take my son into the House Guard, troops will be lead by nobles of my house.  Disputed borders between two minor lords and so on...

3 Hours later

...And Concerning the Matter between House Richerd and Lord Gren. It is disputed whether Lord Gren's great-great-grandfather led the join armies in the battle of the forlorn tree or whether it was Lady Richerd's great -grand-uncle who did that....and the matter between House Karn and House Hern about the Theft of their ancestors shield...

..We need to slow things down and solve our problems before we continue on doing as we are doing...

Averys thought for a moment, and then nodded.

"I know. I had expected my brother would have taken care of the homelands while I fought on his behalf...

I was mistaken. I will pursue the crusade until the faithful are satisifed...but, no more. We risk the destruction of our House if we continue. There will be a time of sowing soon, assuming we pass through this dark hour. I will seize Xeno lands, then they will no doubt sue for a sham peace with us, all the while preparing for an offensive. I will be ready for them.

Also, for your own sake, Rigos, know this-I will not allow my brother to destroy this House. Would you?"

"ENOUGH! I have not come here to be flooded with inane demands, whilst my people are killed to preserve others, and they starve! I might as well help plow the fields myself. Yes, the nobles can lead, provided they are suitable, yes, they can join the House Guard, provided they pass the training, and Yes, House Terdy soldiers Can be lead by a Terdy! You will remain leaders, and be granted a certain autonomy, but you will still answer to me. Any problems, you can leave." .

Help plow the fields and assist medically. The People need a true leader, and by Whaterver looks down at us, the People shall get one...

No. I would not, I have spilled too much blood in your Father's name to build up this house and bring it to what it once was and I hope to rebuild it again to its former glory, So no, I would not stand to watch your Brother ruin the house your Father had built. But Aevery do not take that as me pledging myself to any plots you dare think up. I do not want to see this house torn appart by any internal conflict or politics either. I'd much rather see him develop as a leader and support him

"Calm down my friend I have a plan that will get us both money, and the Xenos support there is no need to worry. Due to the recent arrival of the Inquisition, and their Crusaders the Church's storehouses on this planet have filled to the roof with funds, and food. All we need to do is simply raid one of these warehouses, and coordinate with the Xenos to begin hit, and run attacks on the supply lines. But right now our biggest threat are the Crusaders who arrived recently. If they manage  to make it to our lines we'll lose half our men in ten minutes, and barely put a dent in their unit. That is why we need to begin raiding Church property, so we draw them back into a shell, and while they are gathering more forces to attack we shall find a new place to live, and hide out there until we have the strength, and men we need. We shall have all the necessary supplies soon enough, but I am afraid my life is fast approaching its end. With this declaration of war I shall be the Church's first target of assassination, and when I die I need you to take over. Keep those who remain hidden, and protect them, and the Xenos with the best of your might. Do you understand?"

"As would I. Do you think I would be happy running the mundanties of provinces and dealing with puling noblemen?

Nay. I would prefer to be on the field of battle...doing what I do best.

You can tell him yourself-as long as Ssalosin lets me sate my hunger for battle and flex my claws against our foes, his position is safe from usurpation on my part, barring his complete and utter failure as a ruler, naturally. Let's both hope he has more in him then we've seen up till now...or you and I are both dead, dying to defend this house..."

Aeverys fell silent for a moment in contemplation.

"So, will stay and drink with me, my friend-reminsince about the old, bloody times? Or perhaps you have some plotting of your own to do? I wouldn't blame you for seeking my chair, if I was you. It's quite comfortable."

She smiled. Dangerous...

"So, one Renard Alvos to be sent to whomever he worships. Sounds like a fun job given his current state." Tavius set off swiftly and silently, it would be a bit of time before he caught a trail of the so-called king.

Tavius attempts to track down Renard to either his last know location or to his current one, with a preference towards the latter.

Rigos finished off of his glass of wine as he radjusts himself in her chair before standing up and raising a hand with a slight smirk I am sorry Aevery, I have some metaphorical swords to pound into plows, Although thank you for the offer, I would take you up on it during a more calm time.
With that, he slightly bows his head and walks out to brief the new regiment in the fact they would be farming for a bit.

Aeverys
From your position you have a perfect sight on the underground hive of the Xenos. It is one of the stronger clans, the first one to fall under your crusade. Next to you High-Templar Brother Mactis steered at the Xeno positions through a prefall binocular. Silently he hands it over to you and points at the Entrance to the Colony...

" And, then he grabbed the Rogtar and screamed: GIVE ME MY GODDAMN..."

Ardis pretended an interested nod and turned away from Iriakis. The Guard Shifts had been damned long and Iriakis boring stories turned it into a torture. Ramming the point of his spear into the ground he used it to support his hands and his head. While Iriakis continued talking, his eyes slowly fell down...

The next moment he jumped. Something was wrong. " Iriakis did you hear that too?"
no answer, Ardis slowly turned around...

_____________________________

You can see the Scout cleaning his knife at the tunic of the other Xenos Guard before he gives the sign that all guards had been silenced.

Lady Aeverys, the Xenos will be unprepared when we attack. How shall we proceed?

"Inflitrate the areas where they keep the women, children and laborers. Begin killing them all...but only enough to draw what forces they have out. Keep the majority of our soldiers prepared to counter the attack with precision force. They will be disorganized, trying to save the innocents...cut them all down."

The Commander merely nodded. The comfort of a moonless night gives your troops an additional advantage as they move into their positions in front of the entrance. The Militia and Serf Regiments form up in 4 men deep line formations while the fanatics take positions in the reserve. On your sign the power-armoured templars storm the hives, your troops eager to see what happens stay silent. The radio of the Commander activates and as he sees your questioning look he turns up the volume:

Entering Xeno den.

Copied, proceed Brother Malcor.

Silence....then suddenly screams followed by incantations

IN NOMINE PANCREATORIS XENOS PURGAR!

you hear the screech of the fusion beams as their cleansing wrath is unleashed, followed by bluw lights emitted from the Den Entrance. More screams now louder

we have succesfully found something to a chamber for children several females had run deeper into the hives and alerted the rest of the beasts, we will now retr...

the call is aborted by static sounds.

Brother Malcor? Brother Malcor please report?

Again you see blue lights from the den, now getting brighter and finally you can hear the screeching of the fusion beams themselves  and then you see the Templars as they charge outside and immediately to the sides out of the possible firing range of the militia troops. Behind them the Xeno emerge...Far more than you expected, and some of them are even riding on enormous bugs as it seems!

Immediately your Militias begin to Fire their first two Volleys. The seemingly numberless wave of Xenos can't be missed and the broadside rips a bloody swathe into the approaching horde as the massive bugs and the first groups of infantry are mowed down. The Xenos frenzied by the death of their children continue to storm forward relentlessly. They are now in range for your arquebuses. While those are having a devastating effect against the infantry the cavalry is completely unscathed, except where the riders where shot from their mounts. Barely in time your Fanatics move in front of your Arquebuses and brace for the impact.

A sickening loud crunch can be heard as the massive pincers rip apart the Fanatic Troops.

"Prepare firing lines! Kill them! Glory to the House! Glory to the Pancreator!"

You and several of your Officers, bring the troops to order and reform the firing lines which were broken when the Fanatics charged past them. The Arquebuses still take time to reload as your order massed volleys aimed at the massive beasts. This time the volley is less succesfull although the lasers cut down a good quarter of the beasts they still trample down the remaining Fanatics and continue their charge. Finally your The Serfs have have reloaded. Brother Mactis raised his arm.

SHOOT TRUE AND WITH PRECISION! TAKE THEM ALL!

he lowered his arm, heavy arquebus slug rounds and lasers cut into the approaching wave, the smell of sulphur and ozone attacking your nose. High-pitched noises herald the success of the volley but suddenly the form of the massive Xeno beasts break through the gun smoke. The Center of your Army is cut down as the massive bugs crush into them. Behind them the Xenos charge you in one broad front. But suddenly the grey smoke lights up as the Templars start their flank attacks. As the smoke finally clears, you cans ee that they have cut the Xeno host in half and are chasing them back into the hive, while the other half is charging your militia.

At the helm of the militia you order a counter-charge. Mounting bajonets on their Laser weapons they charge alongside you, several now bringing their flamethrowers to bear, with great success. Burning and screeching mounts bring disorder into the massed Xenos which however seem to be rather unimpressed by the attacks of the Serfs. The reptilians overarch your troops by a whole head and the sweeps of their clubs send Serf flying left and right. Merely the intervention of your Militia turns the tide and you eradicate almost all of them. One Remaining Xeno Regiment surrenders and is brought away by your remaining soldiers.

The only thing that still remains is the Xeno Resistance in your hive. The Templars have faithfully awaited your arrival and are now awaiting orders.

((OOC: QUick FYI: I and Dwarmin did the battle via pm, this proved a bit ungainly. Next time i will do it IN-thread....

Aeverys laughed-a terrible thing to hear over the field, littered with wounded, dead and dying.

Her voice was cold.

"Bring Crosses and nails for the captured men.

Shackles for the women and children.

And burn the Pancreator-Damned bugs, every last one.

I want the hive looted, food, precious treasures and artwork preferred, and then collapsed with explosives.

There are my orders."

Brother Mactis frowns.

Thou shall't not suffer the Xeno to live. Thou has to cleanse it with fire. As stated in the Holy Texts...

Silently the your troops go to work. Cleaning the battlefield, burning and crucifying the Tribesmen and dragging of women and children. The remaining pockets of resistance inside the hive are exterminated with Fusion Beams. Finally the High-Templar returns.

The Xenos seem to have prepared for a campaign against us...we found several different Clan-insignias on them and it seemed like they stockpiled food.

gained 5 Units Xeno Slaves
gained 15 Units of Food
gained 10 Credits
lost 2 Fanatic Regiments
lost 2 Serf Regiments
gained Church Reputation
lost Xeno Reputation
