HOTRS II: A Shade of Things to come 103 AE
« Reply #888 on: October 08, 2012, 04:58:53 pm »

Autumn 103 AE: A Shade of things to come

Galactic News:

The 1st Church Fleet has been destroyed. In the Crusade on Vengeance unkown enemies have struck the fleet and annihilated it. Even now the Inquisition has dispatched vessels to discover the nature of this threat, while The High Archon has contacted the Galactic Reaches in hopes of assistance. [2] So far no answer has returned.

It is believed that Saint Jurislav Lightbringer is still fighting on Vengeance itself and has joined with Lay-Deacon Hood's fourth Repentant.

Among the confirmed Dead was also Archon Tenebris of Garthon I. Due to Tenebris having no wishes upon whom should succeed him his Successor is decided upon by the Council of Archons.

[6] In other News, recent economic boom in the Triumvirate has led to an increase amount of goods and a lowering of prices.

Lord Yarrick Ravenwood was assassinated in his own bed! With him dies the leader of the Coalition of Minor Feudal Lords against House Nova. Investigations revealed that a man snuck into the heavily defended Compound and assassinated the Lord with a gun before blowing the Manor up. The line of Succesion [2,3,6] is at best blurry due to the death of his son and wife in the explosion. 3 Persons have in fact claim on the Title of Ravenwood: Trent Salyar who seems to be the great-grand-cousin of Lord Ravenwood, due to the Salyars being a Cadet line between Ravenwood and Nova, as well as one of the Minor Noble Harald Bull of House Bull and Elezar Azores, Fifth Son of Franconia Azores Head of House Azores, who was married to the now dead Eleanora Ravenwood sister of the deceased Yarrick.

Meanwhile however the Advisor of the House is managing the business and has kept the Alliance between the Minor Nobles and Ravenwood intact as well as keeping true to several business ventures with Cr'tok.

Trent Salyar
((Xenos will be done later on after i did the Church Turn.))

You orders for more research staff and a rebuilt lab go by unheard. Without the Archons support nobody is willing to do anything for you. Besides you've got not a single dime in your pocket do you expect people to work for free? And as you take a look at the lab you see that most of the equipment needs to be replaced a expensive thing. To restore the Church lab you need at least 5 Credits. 10 If you want at least reasonable Lab Equipment...

[1] In fact nobody is even willing to talk to you. Having blown up the lab has granted you you the Status of an Outcast among the Crew.

Although you have no lab equipment anymore you still try and work within the ruined lab working with what you can salvage.
Research:
No Research Team: -30
No Lab: -30

Random Research Events:
[2] It seems you are an very unfortunate man. While you fiddle around with Mining Technology you manage to lit the already burnt out remains fo the lab on fire again.
[1] The damage is terrific this time even going on neighbouring sections of the ship [3] Destroying The Energy Conductor powering the Laser Batteries and killing the Operator Crew( 200 men in all) of one of the Batteries.
In short you disarmed the frigate. [5] You managed however to save yourself and the research notes.

[2]An angry mob captures you and storms the bridge chanting for your execution...

The Morning Star is now weaponless and will remain so until the damage is repaired.

Robert

Loading your Equipment onto the "Rosemary" you start into a new Expedition. After a month of travel you arrive in the new system!
And your Sensors immediately begin to pick up things that haven't been there before...

House Nova

Azthor

No Orders given. You play a bit Chess with Malcador, all the while tirading "Young Man" this and "Young Man" that. After two days you can't find him anymore and force one of the Household Guards to play.

Roim
Your New Agrarian Program is highly Successfull. 40 parcels of formerly Wild Land is settled with more and more people and soon villages grow all over the place. Moreso you turn already settled lands into Towns. The Development of the former Farmsteads continues at a brisk pace and soon 12 new towns blot the land.

Research should go far better with the new additions to your research staff.

[5-2,?] Your try to establish Trade Connections with the only remaining other force of the Planet. Beyond City and Harvey LeGrombe. While initial contact looks good the whole negotiations go awry when you tell him "Ah you are the poor fuck who did want something from my wife but was too businesslike to get her..." not very practical. But Azthor rescues the situation by exchanging some whispered words with LeGrombe. Suddenly everything goes smoothly and the deal is struck.
Although the Trade Route will only benefit Azthor...

Trade Route Established between Azthor Nova and Harvey leGrombe.

Trent stayed calm despite the mop chanting for his execution all around him and spoke up,

"Lets all calm down for a second, and let me explain what happened. Its not my fault that this thing happened, it was an accident and accident's happen when precautions are not met, I was working with the ruins of a lab which had not be repaired so that we can further expand the glory of the Church."

"I ask for a chance to repent in some way instead of being executed if you will give me that chance."

Morning Star and Aurora are to be swapped in duties, due to Morning Star's damage to weapon systems.

Archon was informed of vox comm from Morning Star.

"This is Luthias. What is it?"

"My Archon, your Researcher, the Traitor, he managed to burn down the energy supplies to the Laser Batteries. We are basically disarmed. The damage is...extensive. We even need new Crews who man the damn guns as most of them burned to death when they tried to put out the fire. Now an angry mob pushed the sod in here and ask to burn him alive."

Oh Lord, why you punish me with this foolish man...

Drop him off so that he can get back to Castellum Fidelis. You can rough him up a bit too... but don't kill him. Or break his ribs. Just so that the crew is not left unhappy.

" As you wish Archon. You heard it! Ahead is the coast. Fly at 50 meters height we throw him out 100 meters from the coast. That'll rough him up good and the tides will carry him to the beach."

The mob already grabs you by your feet but is inderrupted again.

" Don't forget the Emergency beacon. Take a large one off the trucks. Nail it to his back that should work good enough..."

With that the Captain turns around and the angry mob runs for the Cargo area, carrying you with them...

Tavius

[?] on the Ship you find Aeverys, her baby, as well as some surviving Mirrodans and a singel Church Official. Turns out he is the Deacon of Garthon I.
All are transferred to the ship and the Deacon aswell as Aeverys, her baby and a young Mirrodanian are brought on the bridge.

She spoke up first.

"Tavius. Good to see you survived, old friend-I knew it would take more than an army of mutants to kill you...thanks for finding me a new ship." She said.

Action: Ride back home?

Tavius was overjoyed to see his old friend (And valued employer) with both her and the child safe and in one piece. "Nice to see you again Ma'am. And to be fair, they nearly got me. Should see the condition the prior of the squad is in, I doubt he was so lucky...

Also, we'll likely need to make a stopover at a triumvirate world before heading back home, the ship is in dire need of repairs..."

Averys nodded.

"Dire need is a bit of an understatement. I saw one of the engineers spraying duct-adhesive over a hull breach." She said, raising an eyebrow. It's impossible to know if she's joking.

Since Averys very rarely jokes.

Something about her is surely different, though.

"I wasn't aware the crew was woken up yet. As far as I know, they're still in statis. Oh yes, I found the ship in a necropolis on vengeance. Just about everything on the ship is either damaged or broken. Only place we can get any repairs without the church breathing down our necks is triumvirate space, and they have a toll for ships passing into their systems.

Simply put, we need about 20 thrones or credits. Either one should do in order to get this ship repaired..."
