"I'd loathe to unleash a plague on men and  I am happy with waiting for a tailored bioweapon against the xenos. but i'd like to get this done quickly and efficiently. I would like to request your warhead be loaded onboard Aurora and Morning Star or fired at specific coordinate,s if you have the missiles to do so.. Once the crusade is under way, I will make arrangments regarding land as we liberate it. I will also relase your house from the Schola edict. I beleive we have an agreement gentelmen...."

Very well, it is set.[6] We have already  made agreements with Lord Ravenwood on this. Send your ships to his Space Port and we can load these warheads next week.

The 4 brothers vanish and the Emblem of House Cr'tok appears before the Screen shuts off.

"I would expect a fair share of the bounty from any battle that my men take part in of course and if you are offering I would gladly accept payment to allow me to hire additional soldiers to aid me in my duty to defeat your enemies, assuming you will hire me my lord. You face an enemy with superior numbers of battle tested men. You need more men to even those odds and my men are tried and tested in battle and will gladly kill the men of the house of Nova to prove there prowess in battle, when the time comes we will prove that we are soldiers to be respected and the house of Nova will rue the day they insulted me.
Perhaps most honorable lord you have heard of Jarrin "Bleak" Levon commander of the infamous Bleak's Hunters.
He is my father and taught me all he knew of warfare.

[1+1] Although you drop the name of your father the Lord doesn'T seem very convinced.

"Fine your men will form a good first defense.  But as you are offering yourself so freely up, i won't pay for you. Keep what you can scrounge from the Novans but dont expect anything from me. And don't even think about supplying yourselves from my populace you will pay for everything you take..."

[3+1] although your men are very displeased with you offering up the company for free they trust in you.

Lord Ravenwood is very suspicious about you and your men especially because you offered yourself up for free. Even worse you are on the frontline instead of guarding the Port or some behind position.

Send one of my men to Roim Scaleskinner in secret. Have them request a fake assault on my position. Request that it be in sufficient strength to defeat me but that after a short battle it fake a route from the field. Also pass on a message.

"I have been accepted into service but it will take time to convince the lord to place me in a more valuable position and I will likely need your assistance to earn he's trust and confidence."

Take up my position and order my men to begin building defensive positions for the cannons, Once completed begin constructing a series of trenches around the cannons for my infantry.

Around one week after the expulsion of the Mercenaries, the following declaration is made in every Novan town and city. A copy is also sent to Lord Ravenwood and several minor nobles neighbouring him.

"Lord Ravenwood, the miserable scoundrel has been known to roam Novan lands with his troops killing Novan subjects. Worse, he killed our faithful retainer, Rigos Utlaga without reason.

The House of Nova cannot allow the first minor noble to kill its men without cansequence. As proper reparation has not been offered, it has been decided to remove Lord Raventree from his office and take his fief in retribution. Any freeman, soldier or follower of Lord Raventree is encouraged to defect and will be welcomed in Nova."

Assemble the army and move on Ravenwood's land. Leave 10 regiments of Infantry behind as reserve.

The following letter is also sent to Azthor.

(( I know :) I just hope I can time it right because I have to arrive back at the port with your army right on my heels for it to work. With a little luck the men lost in the fake attack will have information on when you'll arrive so I can time my retreat. ))

(( Roims armies will arrive with the begin of the next turn giving everybody a nice overlook about the whole situation in the galaxy. The only ones i need to finish are Dwarmin, Taricus and Ebbor.))

Tavius

You and your squad run for a while but it soon becomes obvious that the Mutants wont relent. Turning around you and your Squad make a stand.

Mutants: Squad Strength +12HP, Tough Hide +12HP
Repentants: Squad Strength +10HP, Tavius's Skill +1 Bonus

[5+1! vs. 2] You quickly form a firing line and open upon the advancing Mutants. The Laser Weaponry might work good against humans and Xenos, but the Mutants are made of tougher stuff. Only a single one falls to your devastating barrage. [Mutants 22/24 HP]

[1+1 vs. 4] Before you can fire another salvo 3 of the beasts suddenly gap the distance to you with a single jump, one impaling a squadmate of yours with a spear and sending another sprawling. [12/13HP]

[6+1! vs. 2] While trying to free the spear the Prior quickly beheads the beast with a mighty swing. Meanwhile your squad has readied the bajonets on their rifles preparing to fend of the remaining two mutants and awaiting the incoming rest of the beasts. [Mutants 20/24]

[1+1 vs. 4] Another one of the Repentants is sent reeling as a shell hits him point blank and nearly disintegrates his lower torso. Finally the rest of the Mutants have arrived and the fire fight turns into a vicious hand to hand. [11/13 HP]

[2+1 vs. 1] A 3-armed man, in each a scimitar, is charging towards you and you barely manage to parry the quick succession of swings hammering in on your laser rifle. While the gun slowly disintegrates under the blows, you give the distracted enemy a kick in the guts that send hims prawling, before impaling him on the remains of your gun. [19/24 HP]

[3+1 vs 2] But the beast is not done yet. As it tries to pull out the bajonet, you simply crush its head with your boot, covering you in brains and blood. [18/24 HP]

[5+1! vs 6!] As you free the ruined laser gun, now nothing more than a club, you see as Hubb, a two metre thirty giant rips off the head of one of your enemies with his bare  hands even while he is impaled by three  spears. Jecks who charges at the three perpetrators swinging one of the scimitars he took from a mutant is sent sprawling with a bullet in the back of his head. [Repentants 9/13 HP] [Mutants 16/24 HP]

[1+1 vs 2] Meanwhile another of your squadmates is dying under the scythe-like arms of the last of the jumping things. The Prior coming too late to save the dying man hacks of one of the arms, causing the beast to screech in an uncomprehensible tongue [Rep 8/13 HP] [Mutants 15/24HP]

[6+1! vs 6] While the Mantis-Thing tries to regain its stand, the Prio beheads another Mutant charging at him mere moments before barely parrying a swing from the dangerous arms. [Mutants 13/24]

[6! vs 4] You have meanwhile engaged another enemy a weird jackal like thing with a bended back. It advances upon you but with a quick kick into it's throat you crush the windpipe, looking for the next enemy while beast is clawing at its throat. [11/24 HP]

[3+1 vs. 5] And you find one as you see a hulking mutant crush the head of a fellow Repentant with a single hand. [Repentants 7/13HP]

[3+1 vs. 5] you and a fellow comrade charge the massive thing which grabs the poor sod by the leg and bashes his body like a flail several times hard to the ground till he stops screaming or moving. [Repentants 6/13]

[2+1 vs. 4] The battle is clearly going in favour of the mutants as another Repentant is ripped apart by claws. [5/13 HP]

[6+1 vs. 3] Ripping the bajonet from your gun you charge at the hulking mutant, jump and ram the knife through the eye into the brain of the beast, which promptly goes limp and keels over. [Mutants 9/24HP]

[1+1 vs. 5] Your last squad mate apart from the Prior is ripped apart simultaneously by four Mutants, which then turn on you and the Prior, who has retreated into your direction fending off all the while the attacks of the one armed mantisman. [4/13HP]

The Prior has sustained many minor cuts but the bloodloss gave him a sickly pallor. You two stand now side to side surrounded by the 5 remaining mutants, which seem to be unsure who si to charge first. He grins at you broadly

"Tavius you are a damned heathen, but by Kapan's Balls if the Pancreator won't absolve you of your sins for this, than he is a damned fool."

he gives you a last nod then shoves you back and charges against all 5 Mutants and once.

"Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind!"

[6! vs 1] With a Mighty swing he splits open the first mutant down to his tighs, [4+1 vs 2] then, ripping the sword out with a sickening crunch, he slices open the belly of the Mantis-Beast [5+1 vs 4] and pierces the lung of a third [1+1 vs 5] before one of the remaining two cuts through his spine with a massive axe, nearly cleaving the prior in two. [Rep 3/12 HP] Numeric advantage lost [Mutants 4/24HP]

Now you stand alone against the two beasts. [3+1 vs 6] armed with only a knife you stand no chance against the ram-like beast with the axe. You try to evade his swing but he still manages to open a wide gash on your belly. [2/3Hp]

[5+1! vs 3] However, this opens a hole in his defense and you ram your knife into its eye which sends the beast reeling backwards and over a rail. [2/4 HP]

[2+1 vs. 2] The other Mutant is done mutilating the Prior and advances upon you. You evade his swing and break his left arm. [1/4 Hp]

[4+1 vs. 6] Lightning quick the beast slaps you with the falt of its blade against the head and sends you to the ground [1/3HP]

[2+1 vs 4] Dimly you see the beast advancing upon you.[0/3HP]

[?]

You black out...

"I'll take you up on that offer. However, besides initial transport, we will also need deployable shelter, food, some basic weaponry, and a small array of scientific tools. I'm sure you can supply me with those, probably for a monetary recompensation. I'll get you the full list later.

Take the Triumvirates offer. Invest 2 credits into supplies, vehicles and equipment...
