Vengeance

The next moment you see movement outside of the Chamber. As you look outside you are met by a something. A squad of tall jackal-headed humanoids has arrayed themselves. Each bearing a gun unkown to you and on their backs large sickels. The similiarity to the Mutants is appalling.

Si'kar

The Deck of Ascendants was forbidden with the gaining of superiority of the Cult of Light and the subsequent systematic destruction and elimination of all other Cults.
Long before Emperor Kellan began reuniting the Human Worlds, we had a pantheon fo gods instead of just the One. When Kellan came into power and started the establishment of the Empire he reintroduced the Deck of Ascendants, the only remain of the other Cults. How it works is a mystery to all who know about it. You can foretell certain events and the state of the galaxy among other things. The gift to read this Deck of Ascendants is only available to a few born with it. Every member of the Grey Guard is born with this...gift.

"I heard you brought an officer of the Grey Guard over during Aeverys' marriage. Between that and your actual age, I presume you served amongst them?"

Malcador looked up at that and grinned.

Look at me Azthor. I am only a humble servant, even in the better days i couldn't afford Rejuvination Drugs. Besides have you ever heard of somebody from the Grey Guard retiring?

"Now, now, retirement has an whole other meaning when the Emperor is lost several light years into unmapped space, and most the Imperial Army and the Grey Guard with him, don't you think so?"

Malcador grimaced at that.

I think we can safely assume that the Emperor will not be coming back during our lifetimes...if at all. But my point is still standing Nobody has ever retired from the Grey Guard.

"True, indeed, but one does not always have to retire to take on other roles, specially now that guarding the Emperor is no longer a feasible duty. Isn't that so?"

That may well be, but as far as i and my contacts know, not a single Grey Guard soldier has searched for another employment. My sources suggest that they have indeed retreated to wherever they have retreated...

Why, i am of course a Reader. If you wish i can look into the Deck for you.

Research:
Research into Advanced Mining Technologies, aim to make mines cheaper, and more effective to use. (Main Focus)
Research into the Xeno Genome, and get a better understanding of its structure. (Secondary Focus)
Research alternate sources of power, focus on cheap, and easy sources for now. (Secondary Focus)

General:
Have the lab be rebuilt to my specifications (Removes Church Lab Penalty)
Have another research team gathered, and brought aboard (Removes Church Research Team Penalty)
Request a few live Xenos to be brought aboard for examination and research
Request experts in the mining industry to be brought aboard to further that area of research with their guidance.

Personal:
Talk to the crew and see if i can gather any information of the current going ons, the current number of crew onboard, the ships weapons, etc.

Very well, Lord Azthor.

taking the wooden cards the old man starts to shuffle them. One would think that the thick wood would make it hard but as you watch the adivosr shuffle them the cards seem to have an mind of their own. Done with shuffling he sets the Deck down on the table. His hand hovers over the deck for a moment and as if on own accord the uppermost card seemingly jumps into Malcadors hand. This is certainly no card trick.

First Card. High House Shadow. Apprentice. Somebody seems to be dabbling in the Shadowy Arts.

Although you cannot see it you can literally feel the grin on the old mans face hidden beyond that hood. The card lying open on the table is a young man in the garb of a thief with two knives tugged away in his leather vest. As you look closer the face of the young man seems to be blurred at first you rest a finger on it and suddenly the face becomes clear...

Meanwhile the Old amn has drawn a second Card. On it is a Sceptre. He pputs the card horizontally on the Apprentice.

The Sceptre. Unaligned. In this combination it means that you have some ways to excert influence.

he draws another Card. He puts it down below the two other cards. Malcador is silent for a moment.

The Chained One. Ruler of House of Chains. Whatever you ordered, no matter if you suceed, your suceed will be two edged and the reward you get will contain something that will burden you down...no literally chain you. This card signifies the celebration of imperfection. Form its position i can read that you already know that.

Malcador looks up at you his pale face paler then usual. His eyes showing concern. The card on the Table shows a man wrapped in chains writhing in agony and yet a mad savage grin stares up at you. He hesitates a moment then draws the next Card.

Hounds of Light. High House Light. Somebody knows what you have done. You weren't clean enough. The Hounds are hunting the Apprentice. In other words whatever you have done might get sniffed out.

he puts down the Card to the left of the crossed duo. On it a pack of seven bone white dogs all looking to the right on the cross of Sceptre and the Apprentice. While one stands and points at the Card Combination the rest still has its noses on the ground as if searching for a trail.

Malcador draws another card. On it a man in a glade lifting up a child as if showing it to a crowd of people.

Herald. High House Life. In that position it signifies the near past. It seems Aeverys pregnancy was sucessfull. Either that or...you didn't have a consort lately did you?

Malcador shook his head and then drew the next Card.

Fool,Leper and Cripple. House of Chains. Your undertaking will be cursed with ill luck at least that in the near future. Oh Azthor what have you done?

He puts the card down on the right of the Cross. On it are three figures. A fool and two ragged men. And each blurry face showed some likeness to yourself...

Malcador drew another Card.

First Sword of Light. House of Light. Either you will bring great order in the coming time or justice will be dealt to you by a great warrior.

Malcadors eyes grew wide for a second. Then the man shook his head and turned to teh cards again, putting the current card to the lower right of the Bad Luck Trio.

He drew another Card.

Shadowthrone. House of Shadows. In this constellation either your surroundings will be utterly decieved by your actions or, somebody you know has a great scheme of his own running.

he put it right next to the Fool Card.

King of High House Life. Hmm curious. Where it is it signifies hopes and fears. This could mean that you have to fear the progeny of Aeverys or the other way round. Or maybe you really managed to make a consort of you pregnant. One last Card.

He draws the last one. on it a obese man in long robes.

Archon. House of Chains. Whatever you try to achieve somebody will use dirty tricks to mess with it.

he puts the Card down completing the Celtic Cross.

From what i see, your endeavour will be influenced not only by you but somebody else too, somebody opponent to your course. Aside form that you will befall misfortune.

Malcador read the Deck of Ascendants for Azthor:
For an secret order he has recently given he may reroll one time to change the outcome.
All rolls in this Endeavour are struck with ill luck. -1 on all rolls for that endeavour.
Information leaked and the Servants of an Opponent got a sniff of it. But nothing more.

((OOC: What i did here was something we cooked up in IRC. I basically have taken a real deck of Cards and drawn Cards. Those drawn will influence the outcome of your Actions.
To the bad or the good. This is just a minor gimmick i thought would be fun to put into the game. If you want you can have such a reading for all of your Endeavours or not at all. Like normal rolls for actions it's russian roulette. Sometimes you get the Jackpot and sometimes you have to bite the bullet...))
