"Or a potent enemy. Surely, what harm is there in weakening him before we deal? You said yourself, brother-Humanity must be united.

We cannot do that if we must share power.

This is an advantage I believe we cannot afford to miss..."

Averys nodded, her demeanor changing.

"Do not think me a fool brother. I know the Church desires power as much as we do. But, unlike us, they desire dominion of the spirtual-not the physical...

We can co-exist with them, if we respect the Pancreator. We must play a careful game, using them as much as they use us.

I am not asking you to sign the Holy Writ after all-merely do not make a powerful enemy of them...before we have power of our own. The Church has more strength than this single world-they have armies of their own, battle fleets...and a long reach.

Do I need to remind you of the Inquisition? I have seen them only once brother, and even I felt fear watching as they laid waste to a band of heretic researchers. All in all, I would rather make an enemy of this king, than the Church.

Even if you have no love for the Pancreator in your heart, you must abide by this logic."

My Liege, if i may insist. Your sister is right. The Church is no enemy you should face openly with war. My informants tell me that they are still capable of interstellar communication and some very old ships still remain in their possession.

"I dislike giving our enemy time to think of a way around our defenses...but, if you will not take the intiative against him, then let us continue our Crusade in earnest. If he dares stand in our way, we will crush him.

Let him make the first aggressive move."

House of the Rising Suns 2: Turn 3: How to Convert a Xenos (1 Noble Place Open)
« Reply #85 on: December 19, 2011, 09:05:11 am »

OOC: two new stats will now be included
Support: Shows how much support each noble has from the common folk. Depending on your actions it may raise an sink. The support basically shows how many people would stand on your side in case you try to overthrow the current head of the house. It also shows in case of rebellion who would be the prime target for a lynch mob. Do not forget however that with a dedicated military you could keep the will of the people at bay...

Pre-Fall Artifacts: Although a hundred years have passed your Noble House still owns the one or other precious scrap of technology from the old times. Be it Power Armors, Ships or similiar, you have still some Hidden FUN Stuff in your backhand. It is basically the Currency in which you pay if you try to build something or repair something above your current technology level. In this Example repairing the Frigate would cost between 1 and 10 Artifacts ( you start with 10) depending on your rolls. On the other hand if you scrap the ship and scavenge it for artifacts you gain between nothing and 5 artifacts and 1 free technology( again depending on the rolls). You can also use these Pre-Fall Artifacts to boost your research. But beware this is very limited and over time as you advance you will find that many of the Artifacts are none anymore as your technology has become superior to that Pre-Fall junk...

Another Side-Note: Through the Establishment of Educational Facilities,Industry,Economy and Infrastructurethe populace will also advance, in this turn the establishment of Elementary Schools and Foundries allows the populace to acquire some arquebuses (meaning your serfs are getting upgraded)

Rigos

You have never been one for idle conversations with the so called "Kings" of this planet. These babarian warlords took by force what they could not gain by right and you had no intention to grace them with your attendance at the meeting. Instead you and the two serf regiments explore the unclaimed territories in hope of finding something worthwile...and indeed you stumble upon something. It seems to be the wreck of an Prefall Frigate. What you find within is truly exhilarating, not only could you restore the ship given the proper technicians it also has a complete Navigation Databank of this System. Of course you could instead hand it over to your researchers in hopes for them to find something more interesting...

gained Frigate Wreck

Aeverys

You immediately begin to work on your new propaganda model. Your brother may conspire with heretics and Xenos but you stnad true to the church. Rounding up some random criminals and outcasts, you "question" them for a looong time. After they are completely broken, you force them to publicly confess that they have collaborated with Aliens, spread panic about the illness and even willfully infected several people. You burn them in front of an enraged mob. The effect is devastating. Recruitment measures shoot into the sky, people want a crusade against those beasts and they want you to lead it.

Establishment of Defenses and Security has yet become another success for you. People virtually volunteer to help you and in mere months every village has at least a small barrack with its own garrison of militiamen, some even have walls. These new volunteers prove to be a good addition to your efforts in rooting out dissidents and heresy. The people feel safer now that they see some unliked people burning at the stakes.

Aeverys Support gain: 20%
Ssalosin Support loss: 20%
gained 3 Fanatic Hordes (no upkeep, medieval weaponry, may disband randomly)
New Infrastructure: Basic Policing (increases Stability )
Casus Belli: Xenos Tribes

Ssalosin

You order some of Aeverys troops to build schools and foundries, which in itself isnt a problem but you need personnel to operate them. And Personnel costs money, aswell as equipment.

Ssalosin Support Gain: 5%
Aeverys Support Loss: 5%
Lost 4 Credits
pre-enlightenment Elementary Schools gained (increase education, stability)
pre-industrialism Industry gained

Research
The Researchers are eyeing you strangely as you order the building of flintlock weaponry, as the secret of Gunpowder has become publicy know through the Mining Colony. They however tell you that these Arquebuses are backwards and primitive and through standardization of munitions and weapons production you could begin the training of a professional military instead of militia and armed serfs.

Rifling Technology ETA: 1 Turn
Tank Technology ETA: 3 Turns ( need Electricity, Electronics Technology, need industrialized Industry )
Helicopter Technology: on Hold (need Electricity, Electronics Technology, need industrialized Industry)

External Affairs

The Church is more than pleased to hear from your newfound Zeal and that you are willing to convert or exterminate the Xenos. They are dissapointed in your lack of proper ecclesiastic facilities however and would be most pleased if you show your Faith in the Pancreator by building some.

New Church Missions:
1.establish Contact with the Xenos and try to Convert them. Reward: The Thanks of the Pancreator, a monetary compensation for your efforts.
2.build ecclesiastic Facilities in the next 2 Turns  Reward: The Thanks of the Pancreator Ability to Tithe Skim Penalty: The Ire of the Church

Averys had heard the baying of mob-Suffer not a Xeno to live...

Ah, but for now, a bit of leisure before things got serious. She lived to hunt-and todays hunt was going to be very good.

She scanned the brushline. Prey...

It was all going according to plan...the Pancreator was blessing her efforts. Soon, there would be houses of Worship-run by her own military chaplains, aye. They would make the faith strong-and bring more glorious martyrs for her Holy Crusade.

There was a crack. A group of birds, about to spook. She aimed...

Averys had decided to make a token effort to convert the Xenos-more of a way to secure labor than anything. Especially for the farms. Her fool brother could not even handle the ordering of Agriculture...and people knew that. She hoped he had a plan.

Her rifle-an ornate contraption she had looted from the armory-boomed satisfingly. Direct hit. Poor bird never had a chance. Good thing, since food was getting so scarce these days she might have to start hunting for sustenance soon!

She walked forward into the brush. Still alive? It was more resilient than she had thought.

Averys bent down and slit it's throat with her knife, favoring a grim look.

Actions:

1. Begin the Building of Pancreator Churches in our territory-that double as recruiting areas for Averys Forces. Make sure as people begin to get hungry, some food is stocked in these churches-and handed out for free, for all those who express love to the Pancreator..

2. Try to convert the more civilized Xenos in good faith to the Pancreator belief-and secure them to work on our farms and foundries for laborers as 'penance'. Send the laborers to Ssalosin to use as he wishes.

3. At the same time, direct my Fanatics in raids against the nearest more bestial Xenos, those without allies or politcal clout among their people. No full attacks or land seizing yet-save my personal forces strength-just let them vent their rage and bring back Xeno slaves and loot. Their success will inspire the horde to grow.

4. My Church agents attempt to direct Backlash from the possible incoming starvation to Ssalosin. It's totally his fault!

Renard knew it was time, a war was approaching, and he would have to fight. The oppression of Xenos, and the cruelty of the Church was something he would not stand for, but he had to make preparations before he pronounced to his people the leaving of the ways of the Church. He knew the truth, and knew few would believe, thus he would do what he must. He would not lie to his people about following the Church, and he could not tell them the truth.

Thus, he set about gathering those who would wish to rise against the Church, or simply break away from their oppressive rule. ALong with that he began sending messages to those Xenos that still remained on the planet.

It read,

"I am Renard, I hereby proclaim all of you who wish to rise up against the Church join. All those who wish to crush the oppressive regime that lies on you gather. It is a time for war, and a time for choices. My choice is to treat all people as equals, and I want to form a world where we are equal. But I need your aid, it is time to prepare for war."

Gather those in my Kingdom who would wish to fight against the Church.
Send a message to the Xenos asking them to join underneath my banner, and challenge the Church.
