((Well, the way I see it, I've got a bunch of men closing down on the peninsula, that want to grab Trent and bring his ass back to Delta-17. The Way to do it is to block "base" of the peninsula so he can't get around them. They're not actively looking for the letter, just that since they're already locking on the peninsula, any spotted messenger would be arrested and searched.))
BTW: The fiefs needs some works Ghazkull: Azthor doesn't have any tax income. He can't even feed his troops, since he has no food income either. :p
I repeat my suggestions that you remove that fortress from his fief list (I mean, is it even a different Fortress or is it Delta-17? It's weird that it may be a fief of both Aeverys and Azthor..., but if it's a different fortress, we don't have enough food to feed them...) and give him some towns and farmsteads instead. That seems more like what a House Noble fief would look like: farmland in the Core, and a town or two.
Edit: Oh, I see I totally missed your rant. Here is the answer.
Well, the peninsula part was just fluff at first, much like the way you decided my troops were a week away. I didn't really think much about it at the time, and you didn't oppose it. But then you didn't specify anything ("Claim land along the church border" would have been much smarter for exemple), and it just seems logical that you wouldn't claim a region totally within my fief, and you wouldn't be able to flee through my land anyway...
Gearing for war: Yup, I've been hiring ship and training some more milita... But the last orders given to the troops were "Scatter around to hunt for bandits". So being all around the Reaches is exactly where it makes sense for them to be, sorry.
The Posse Comitatus act is indeed designed to prevent a palace coup from happening. I though Azthor had another Fortress as his own. We'll see of this play out, may have to edit if not, but it's quite silly that the capital is the fief of two different persons. But yeah, since troops don't really have positions, I don't want Azthor to suddenly claim all of his are targeting me in the Palace. And I don't want to have troops stuck in Delta-17 defending me against this when they could be doing something more useful.
You don't have to stand for it. Feel free to disobey the edict. But I have the bigger stick around for now, so watch for consequences. Also, you're not even a member of House Nova, you're a retainer with almost no armed forces that just broke it's oath by swearing fealty to soemone else and tried to steal my land. Azthor might mount a legal challenge, but the notion that you could is preposerous.
Luthias using his shuttle for carrying a message doesn't really make sense: he got only one, and it's arguably its most important asset. He usually wouldn't devote it to postal duties. So except if Ardas had specified it before I asked about the interception, we can safely assume it wouldn't have been used. That's metagaming: changing your PC's behaviour on information he doesn't have.
Anyway, I'll let Ghazkull handle the letter thing. He's the GM.
