I'm not a Mac expert, but I'd strongly recommend running a detailed memory check, and then your system's diagnostics.  I use Memtest86+ on our Linux and Windows systems, and I believe it should work on most modern Intel-based Macs.  DF stresses out a computer in ways that most apps don't, and is very sensitive to memory errors; normally a bus error would indicate something has gone seriously awry such as memory or hard disk errors corrupting data enough that DF crashes or is terminated by the OS.

:o That doesn't sound very good...

I'll get on that. If it's any help, these errors tend to occur during specific events, such as scrolling further down the page in legends mode or hitting Alt+Y to confirm attack in adventure mode. It also doesn't occur with unmodded version with Mayday installed.

Use a different font. The default should work.

Get back to me and tell me if it helps :)

That is in the .init files, correct? Which font setting do I change, and to what?

By any chance do you have TrueType mode enabled? If so, turn it off - it's buggy and causes crashes. I've figured out how to fix the bug in the Windows SDL version (2F063F : BE -> B6, 2F07DD : BE -> B6) and can easily do the same for the Legacy version if needed, but I can't fix the Linux or MacOS versions myself.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
