Scott opens a channel to Julius, in an unimpressed voice asked. "Julius? Are you working on an anti-AI weapon?"
There is a considerable pause as Juilius considers the question and in a calmer voice he responds "I was not informed of the exact nature of research carried out here it was mostly just missile development aside from...oh...that... It's not an anti AI weapon, you should know full what it is seeing as we found it on your ship the Flarewise. Is that what this is about? You can't have it so you blow up a damn station to prevent anyone else getting it! You have sixty seconds left to leave the ship before I open fire,"

Arjen opens comms to Julius:

"Julius. We were trying to leave. One of the AIs we had employed on the ship apparently knew about some kind of research here that he thought is/was an anti-AI weapon. He overrode my comms terminal as I was ordering a stealth fighter/bomber that had a nuclear weapon on board to get back and ordered the pilot to fire at the station. After he scrambled the station's defenses from here, he jumped ship. We believe that he is hiding in one of the destroyers in your fleet. As for what was found on the Flarewise, we never saw it, we just put it in quarantine crates because we had no clue what it was, and once the military took it, never heard of it again."

Uh.. hang on guys... it didn't take the bait... weird, for something designed specifically to go after AIs, it doesn't seem too interested in me... HELIOS!?!  Are you still alive over there??  We have to get it off the Firestar!

"Julius we will retaliate if you open fire! We need to talk, I promise this will end badly for everyone if you don't stand down.. You need to explain what it is you found from those crate on the Flarewise. We have no idea what it is, nor do we want to have anything to do with this damn thing. We need to sort out events before this gets worse. Do not open fire!"

Scott speaks to the remaining crew of both ships. "Load everything! Soon as those destroyers fire they will be in range of those platforms still. Open up with half of everything, one big shot. Escorts for the nukes. I do not take kindly to threats people and neither should you! We will not be dying today!
Flarewise ready laser banks! All point defense turrets online! Firestars aim the railgun and bring cannons up!"

"Should I accept your story of a rengade AI, should I believe that this is all somehow not your fault? After what's happened do you expect me to trust you? Surrender peacefuly and we'll get to the bottom of this but your running out time for that,"

"You put hardrives in sealed metal crates labeled quarantine and you expect me to think you had no idea what was on them! You now command tends to view anyone involved with something they want keep secret that isn't enlisted as a problem, a problem they prefer to destroy or remove. So back in Tabien I listened to my more compassionate side and decided to leave you guys out of my reports. Such a great decision that was...it's now a matter of time before my superiors learn about that and I am now left wondering:if I had followed precedure would they have done a background check on you guys and found something unpleasant or would they have already dealt with you so you'd never trouble us again. I realise if I hadn't shown you that simple bit of kindness 450 researchers and station staff would be alive right now. My superiors will justly blame me for this disaster. But before I'm arrested and hauled off to face treason charges I intend to give you same fate of the good men and women who lived on that station...all craft weapons free!"

"Julius, I'm already off the Firestar, in the shuttle.

But think about this, how long was I in Tabien station myself, helping whoever needed it? You know me better than the people I am with at the moment, would I order the destruction of a station filled with civilians? Would I? Is it in my personality to slaughter people I have no quarrel with?

Think about what you are doing. In the meantime, the shuttle I'm on is keeping far away from your fleet and the Firestar until we can work this out."

Open comms to the Firestar, while maintaining comms to Julius.

"Scott, stand down. I would be more willing to ram this shuttle into the Firestar's engines and blow the lot of us to pieces before I see you open fire on a fleet that is offering us mercy for an act that we did not do ourselves, but could have prevented! 450 people are dead already, let's not increase that number!"

(In OOC news, my attempts to defuse this situation could either go well, or we all die.)

Can someone give me a summary of what happened in the last 7 pages?

In any case,

Wake up from a slumber in the main engine room, find the ship in chaos, being hacked and being targetted by destroyers, ask for explanation. If it would be of any help, prepare to do an emergency shutsdown of the reactor(which would be similair to dropping weapons and waving a white flag, since it powers all systems) and run toward the escape pods.

Can someone give me a summary of what happened in the last 7 pages?
We came in to the sector we were supposed to destroy.  It is guarded by 2 destroyers and a few weapons platforms.  The destroyers told us to get lost.  We sent out a stealth bomber with a nuke towards the station and messed up the fire controls in the weapons platforms so they will now fire on anyone (friend or foe).

Then Julius, of all people, got on the radio and told us that this was a House Laberine sector (not whatever house we were told) and that we should leave immediately.  We prepared to do so, telling him this was all just a big mistake.  Then someone ordered the stealth fighter to launch the nuke, blowing up the station.  Helios malfunctioned and is possibly dead.  Julius is a little upset about us blowing up the station.  I (Urist) jumped ship destined for one of the destroyers.

Then you got a message from me telling you that I was the one who shot the nuke, and blew up the station, but that I did it to get rid of a weapon that House Laberine was working on to wipe out the AI race.  I said that the weapon was now aboard the Firestar and I tried to draw it out, but it didn't appear to have worked.

When you questioned Julius about this anti-AI weapon, he seemed to think you were referring to something you found aboard the Flarewise which their marines captured when they boarded it.  Julius blames you for the death of all the people on the station and is now ordering his ships to fire on you.

Ooh, shutting down the generator might not be a good idea then.

Can we bluff them into not firing by saying we messed with their weapon controls(which we did). Anyone, I think we should get try to stay out of their weapons range, but not very jump yet. Anyway, I think we should switch the engine and weapon controls to manual(also lifesupport and airlocks, those are important).

Better than a shuttle ram into the engine. I really, really want to sort this out without weapons fire, but if I have to blow up the Firestar myself (I'm on the shuttle), then boom it goes. (Seriously. No shooting.)

Besides, they've got weapons free, but aren't firing yet. I'm hoping to keep them from doing so. Diplomatically. Just... don't give them another reason for firing, it'll be harder to defuse.

OOC: "Weapons free" doesn't just mean that you can fire if you feel like it, it is an order to fire when ready.  Julius just ordered all units under his command to fire on you.

They probably just haven't shot yet either because they're not in range, or the GM wanted to give you a chance to react first.
