The Flak drone is slow and sluggish compared to the powerful Firestar.
Flying at a speed the drone can keep up with means moving at relative crawl.
Progress through the scrap field is slow and arduous.
Considerable time passes as the crew vigilantly watches the sensors.
Suddenly you detect a short range burst transmission, moments later eight more identical are detected nearby.
A drone speeds from it's hiding place.
Your flak drone opens fire on it as it approaches and misses, the return fire rips through the flak drone tearing it to bits.
As it closes in your point defence fire their beams but nimblely it dodges all of them.
It's targets one of your turrets and empties the last of it's ammo at it.
The misaligned shots bounce harmlessly off the turrets armor and the turret cuts the troublesome drone in half.
About eight more drones rush into sensor range and are fast approching your position.

(For those wondering the drone managed to get: 18, 20, 19, 4 and 12 on a d20, it seems these things may actualy be able to shoot)

It's scrap I'm afraid, that twenty the enemy rolled was for it's attack on the flak drone.
Honestly though the Flak drone was completely outclassed, it was built out of bits and bobs you'd found and it was up against an over engineered military grade bot.
Still it had the edge when it came to firepower though.
As for the repeater cannons they use about three rounds per burst (the number of times a gun fires in a round depends on the situation)

Conventional ship tactics says attacking anything much smaller than yourself with your main guns is pointless as it'll have less mass so it can maneuver easier and stay out of the line of fire for the main guns.
Obviously who ever said that has never seen the Firestar turn.
Spining your ship into position you fire the main guns.
The lump of scap that speeds out the of the barrel is slightly larger than it's target which it somehow hits dead on and continues out into the scrapfield as if it felt no ressistance, the it hit has ceased to exist.
The other drones close in quickly only to be ripped to shreds by corodinated fire from your point defence turrets and cannons.
The enemy drones never even made it into firing range.

(You rolled 19, 20, 19  on a d20 for your railguns, point defence and cannons respectively, then the enemy rolled to dodge this stunningly acurate fire: 1

Also, which dice roller where you using? (Random.org)
What was the bounty on those turrets again?

If you mean the drones that are left attacking you then the answer is zero, your turrets vengefully annilated them.
But if you mean left overall there should be another 15 scattered around the place.
The bounty is set at 50 credits per drone so currently you've made 450.
I was using the Dnd dice roller but Random.org looks way better.

A moment of silence descends on the ship as everyone mournfuly watches the lump of metal that was once your trusty flak drone drift past.

You go deeper into the scrapyard searching for these drones.
Time slips by as you search and still you find nothing else.
You spend an entire day combing the scrapyard until at last you find them.
All 15 of them are clustered around the wreck of a ship.
It's a light cargo hauler, the damage it's suffered is consistant with the drones weaponry and aside from the combat damage it looks pretty well maintained.
Each drone emittes a similar burst transmission as the last ones did before racing to attack you.
You've got about a minute before they're in range.

Agreed fire the rail gun! We should make quick work of them. Fire the interceptor missiles and the cannons. If this works out we definitely need to tow that broken ship back for credits.

Not the Interceptors! Those things cost money, and I'm not so sure this enemy warrants their use.

Agreed- rail guns and readily replaced scrap metal only, otherwise we cut into our profit too much.
