Does anyone feel like doing a little pirating on the way back to the station?

The ship seems to be to heavily damaged for that(also, no misseles). Stay with the shîp until the client arrives and pays. Attemp to repair the flak drone.
Then go back to the station for repairs and maybe some of those auto repair drones. Also, this ship is old, surely the armor technologie has improved since it was build. How much would it cost to improve the ship flank armor?

The drone is worse off than expected and large bit of it needs to be disassembled and rebuilt.
But it's made of scrap and bits and pieces repairing it doesn't take long.
In the mean time you stay with the Cresent Dawn making sure nothing else happens to it before the client arrives.
The Client's men show up in two support ships, swiftly board the vessel and thank you for your help.
They soon report that they have the ship under they're control and that the captain is dead but the cargo is intact.
The client pays you for a completed contract and two of the bonuses for a total of 2250 credits.
As you head back to the station you recieve word that the local athority has confirmed your report and will pay you the 3245 for the pirates.

The dock workers seem surprised at the amount of damage you managed to do to your hull in the short amount of time it was since you where last here.
They inform you that fixing the significant damage you've sustained will cost 1600 credits and take three days.

Pricelist:
Flak Shells; 6 credits per shell
4 inch cannon shells; 5 credits per shell
Point Defence Turret; 600 credits
4 inch repeater cannon; 825 credits
Fuel; 1 per unit
Rations; 1 per unit
Crawler Drone; 260 credits
(The following are used in making things like your flak drone)
Basic Fabrication componenets; 1 per unit (can also be made from scrap using basic tools)
Advanced Fabrication componenents; 3 per unit (can also be made from Basic Fabrication componenets using advanced tools)
Basic electronic componenets; 1 per unit
Advanced electronic componenets; 4 per unit
Advanced tools; 300 credits (this is to get a huge set of tools and machines with many duplicates so people can work simulatenously)

Black market
Missiles:
  • Gilber: Large Payload dumb fire; 35 credits each, 8 available.
  • Ravenhawk: Medium Payload, agile, heat seaking long range; 65 credits each, 3 available.
  • Blinder: Sensor chaff, fast, slow to turn guided; 65 credits each, 1 available
  • Cluster: 5xInterceptor missile cluster, slow, guided; 136 credits each, 5 available
  • Driller Nuke: Nuclear Payload, guided, long range, bores through armor; 1803 credits each, 1 available
  • Interceptor: Very small payload, very small size, extreamly fast, very agile, target seeker; 15 credits, 23 available
  • Tether Anchor: No payload, very short range, guided, attaches line; 20 credits, 6 available
  • Hammer: Large Payload, short range, guided; 65 credits, 3 available

Ilegal tech:
Comns Jammer; 8200 (works for twenty minutes each time it's activated, jams long range only)
Stealth probe; 1200 (difficult to spot on sensors, very fast, very powerful passive sensor array)
Knell fighter; 2400 (one of the most inferior fighters available but in the hands of a skilled pilot it can still be a deadly force)
Emp; 1500 (disables all non shielded electronic devices within a small radius around your ship, not reusable)

About 11,241, you are replacing most of the hull with expensive military grade armor after all.
And to make matters worse this station is as backwater as it gets so the armor available here isn't what you'd call top of the line but it's better than what's protecting your flanks now.

Wasn't there a battle recently, between the main Ssaros fleet and the Inperials? Ssaros are reputed to make some good ships.

No.
The Lastros Ak'Mkal here isn't the same Lastros Ak'Mkal as in your thread.
I'd go as far as to say it's completely different but then I haven't read your 50+ page thread and I know nothing about the Lastros Ak'Mkal there or the Ssaros.
You see the thing is when some one mentions somewhere as if it's somewhere that exists in the game I generaly try to inculde it in some fashion.
Anyway since I didn't know what it was (and somehow repeated failed to notice the Battle at Lastros Ak'Mkal title on your thread) I made something up:
Quote
Lastros AK'Mkal is a note worthy planet.
It was initialy colonized in the third waze of colonization but then the fledling colony due to a clerical error and difficulties of long range comunications was forgotten about only to be found 200 years later.
It has thrived despite it's isolation and has become a popular tourist destination because of it's unquie culture and beautiful senery.
The Ssaros are the nomadic natives of Lastros AK'Mkal and are known to pack up entire cities over night and move to other grounds.
They have many cities built along their migatory path which are often spetacular to view that they will move into enmass for a few months before moving on again.
Futher more the Ssaros are human (no aliens in this setting that anyone knows of), part of the Collective of Imperial worlds and do not really build many ships.

If we buy a crawler drone, will it be able to fully repair the ship, or will it just patch stuff up.
How much would it cost to patch up the shuttle?
How much is that thing worth?
How much trouble would it be to get a permit to own offensive weaponry?
For now  I say :
Repairs
1 crawler drone
2 tether anchors
Inquire about recent galactic events and possible jobs

Crawler Drones patch stuff up mostly but can assist in more permenant repairs.
Fixing the shuttle would cost about 255, buying one of the same model new would cost about 800 but selling a working one second hand would get you 300 credits.
Getting your hands on such a permit can be troublesome, the easiest way is to register as a private security firm and request one.
To be given the permit your ship and buisness practises are reviewed and if it's deemed nessicary for you to use offensive weapons and your background checks come out clear you get it.
But registering as a security firm means completeing a small mountain of paper work and means you have to pay tax.

The current events are centered round the disputed zone, the AI protests and the Imperial houses being at each others throats.
Aside from that there are reports of a large prospector expedition vanishing after leaving inhabited space and signs that both the United Sol League and the Collective of Imperial planets are prepareing for war.

As for jobs the drone clearance one is still waiting for someone to take it, the valuable cargo job has already been accepted, there are some traders looking for escourts and that's about it for.
It hasn't been long since you where last here but by the time the hull is repaired more jobs might have become available.

(Intresting fact the end point of a Tether anchor's tether can be another tether anchor)

Wait for the ship to be fixed, then drone clearance.
What's the punishement/fine on owning offensive weapons whitout permision?
Reload/Rearm the drone.

Being caught with offensive weapons without permision entails a fine of 500 for each one and the confiscation of the weapons in question.
At least for the first three times your caught, a fourth offense puts you in jail.

You signal your intent to do the drone clearance job and wait for the repairs to be finished.
The time nears for the repairs to finished and the crew make ready to leave.
Is there any last things you want to do or buy before you go?

The Firestar's hull has been fixed, bent back into shape and repaint.
And after a few last minute purchases of missiles, fuel and tools the Firestar is underway again.
The client transfers the location where the drones are attacking ships, it's not far from the station.
You bring the Firestar to a stop a short distance from the target area.

Drones are notoriously hard to detect on sensors as they look like debris and severed chunks of ships with failing power systems.
You can expect to be attacked by them without warning once you begin patroling.

Deploy the drone and start the patrol.
Listen and try to intercept drone communications.
