Oh if we're looking for bragging rights, my linage can supposedly be traced back to a family of noble farmers in the south of the Netherlands, which were related to Charlemagne, so I'm one of his descendants, along with about half of Europe.
I'm roughly half english, half dutch by genetics. I'm not counting the other countries for the sake of the argument.
-My Kentish english part is descended from the brother of William the Conqueror, and were related to Richard III by marriage. They were nobles from roughly 1066 onwards. The name Helen/Helena/Helenus can be traced back a thousand years, going down the Tilden line, the last being my great-great-grandmother Helena Tilden. To continue this I intend to name one of my female children Helen or Helena.
-Another English part, from Essex, were military class and were decorated soldiers from the past four hundred years. Military class was the lowest rung of nobility.
-My Lancashiran english part were miners.
-My Cornish part were mine-owners.
-Another english part has an ancestral manor- but as a non-direct descendant I cannot claim it.
-My Frieslander/North Dutch side were military and teachers. Some fought against Nazis in the occupation of Holland. They were landowners from many years back, and are distantly related to the second last ruler of Magna Frisia, King Redbad.
-My South Dutch side were barge-operators and honest people. They were never serfs. They migrated from Germany in the mid 1600s, where they were Burghermeisters and had an ancestral church in North Rhine/Westphalia.
