Good question.. I have thought of something in line of 6 hours? 1 hour is in my opinion, way too short.
Death however should always end the turn.
But you you guys have better ideas, please tell me.

One in-game week per player? (7 20 minutes cycles, unless you sleep.)

In regards to the name, just go to the DF embark screen and press random fortress name until we get something cool.

One problem with this, is without a watch, it will be difficult to tell time when underground.
It does sound like a good idea tough.

One problem with this, is without a clock, it will be difficult to tell time when underground.
It does sound like a good idea tough.
Then maybe the first person should cheat in a clock. Or we could use timers set to two hours. Or it could just be an approx week. Or people could do whatever they feel like doing in the span of 1-3 days. Also, sign me up if this is vanilla Minecraft.

So stuff happened at home, not bad stuff, only stuff that takes away any planning time of this.
Also, christmas is approaching fast and I have barely bought any presents for family and relatives.

So.. I might be able to continue this soon, but don't expect any miracles.

Using this...
I believe that what should happen is either one of these two things...

1: We play as an Acolyte of Roki. Easy said and done...

2: Each player picks their own god and then has to do everything in their power to reach as high as they can and WITHOUT ANYONE ELSE KNOWING WHO THEY PICKED! The entrances should be secret and held back from one another, but marked with your own name. This way, if you stumble across someones Shrine, deface it if it not your own god, screenshot it and then send the pic to the owner. Informing them that they lose. Or something like that...
