I am brand new to adventure mode. I was an elf and I entered a human shop. I had just started the game and I traded a bunch of useless stuff for a nice sword I wanted. They took my stuff but they didn't give me my sword! (I selected the sword and pressed enter, marking it for trading, then did the same thing to mark the things I wanted to offer. I then pressed T because it said that was the button for trading. The vendor took my stuff and then "forgot" to give me my new stuff. The problem was I traded my old weapon for the new one so now I'm unarmed! I then tried again, this time making sure that I had marked the sword for trade and then I then marked all my remaining stuff (because there was no way I could afford the weapon otherwise and I was unarmed) and the vendor repeated the theft! Is this a glitch? Is it a feature (some anti elf thing?) or am I making a mistake? Thanks

Sometimes, I will go to a house/castle and fall asleep, when I wake up I am in the woods. Several times I have gotten teleported into the middle of 6 boogymen! Additionally, any companions I have are scattered around and It takes me a while to find them. Is this a glitch? or once again, am I doing something wrong? This has happened to both my elvish and human travelers in human settlements. It once also happened in an abandoned fortress (I was teleported outside of the fortress, they didn't attack me inside of it)

Finally, I keep on dying very quickly in adventure mode, any suggestions on how to get better? I'm reading the wiki and following their suggestions but I keep on dying.

DF's awesomeness is in this. Your sword doesn't teleports itself to you, you have to actually go and take it from the store, protip: You can wear anything in a store, as long as you don't exit the store with the good, it isn't stealing, so you should enter the store, locate the goods and wear them, only after that you should buy it.
Also, be sure to ask for permission before sleeping in houses or stores, otherwise YOU WILL end up in the woods. Sometimes it happens, regardless or permission, yeah, I think it's a bug. Also, if fortresses are abandoned this will always happened, because there is no one to give you permission to stay, protip: Always sleep inside the keep.

Also, there is no way of surviving in Adventure mode, I only had one adventurer to live the year, but the best way of surviving is to have a lot of companions, they will die for you in most cases.

Thanks a lot. By the way, sometimes some of my companions will disappear. It appears that it usually happens after I fall asleep/fast travel... however this is probably because I generally don't notice their absence until the moment I get ambushed! Any idea why this is? Thanks

If you fast-travel right after waking up, your companions might not have woken up yet.

Hopefully, one last question. I recently attacked a lair with three companions. When I did, all of a sudden it said I had no compainions. I beat the monster, looted the cave, and came out. When I did, I saw the three humans standing outside of the cave. I talked to them and recruted them. Before I talked to the 3 people, it said I had 0 companions. After I talked to them, it said I had 6 however each person was listed twice! I'm pretty sure this is a glitch, however I would like to double check before I report it.


PS: how do I report glitches? What information would I need to include?

you must have walk far enough that you lost access to the companions, now because of this they stayed in the site grounds until you came back the double listing is from recording over the companion slot.

Did you sneak? Found out that when you go on a quest w companions and sneak up to the enemy, then get spotted, your companions become neutrals [yet fight on] and in order to ally with them again, you talk to them [even in the midst of an ambush or battle] and they will rejoin like nothing ever happened. Just that it may replicate the humanoid in the companion list. Toady might want a look at this but I too don't know how to report it. Also, before re-recruiting, you could ask their profession and they would reply '...wandering the wilds for X years' where X = the difference in time from now until when you met and recruited them.
