That's.. actually not a bad idea.

Afterall, they are suppised to the thieving little bastards who use a combination of trickerey and evasiveness.
At least until their final evolution, in which they are all about overpowering the oponent with stolen weaponry.  :P

I'd just say give that particular character some sort of magical ability to revive his mons. Potentially something ridiculous:
"You thought you'd beaten me, eh? That you'd killed all my mons?
Well, you'd be right! But what you didn't know is that I brought them back to life by... *insert one of the following*
Rushing them straight to the Bayocenter!
Feeding them straight Whiskey!
Shaking them for several minutes!
Playing motivational music!
Selling their souls to Satan!
Feeding them my own blood!
Crying until my tears formed a river!
Purchasing a revive - o - matic!
Commanding them to live!
Realising the last fight never really happened!
Philosophising them back to life!
Earning over $100 at the bake sale!
... that's neat, eh! Well, now it's time for a rematch!"

So why not use the marmots instead?

Then, in the final battle, he could have skarmints!

Anywho, Korbac, maybe also consider doing nontextual stuff - descriptions for whn you look at books on shelves or tables, examine pictures or things of interest, etc.

@Korbac: That would be hillarious!
Altough you may want to replace satan with armok to keep things in-universe.

@Glyph:
Well I suppose.. altough I have kind of grown fond of
these critters who keep stealing my battleaxes in almost half of the forts I create.

And I would try to draw them up if only I had the pixel art skills for it.

Hehe, I'm keeping you busy eh Gryph. ;)

That's a good idea. I'll tidy up a few more TM lists then do a few of those! :)

Edited my post, and got ninja'd.  :P

edit: Also, is there an actual limit of Bayomons for this project?
If so, I do understand why you would not want new ones.

We're aiming just to fill the standard 150 slots. We do have room for 100 more, but that means more coding, spriting, balancing, etc.
Also, I've noticed lots of mons coming from a single meme. We have roughly 8 elephants for example.

Well the raccoon mons could be a mix of the two?
Such as in their naming and their final form's weaponry.

Ah well, it was but a few ideas I had.
Nothing I should get emotionally attached to.

Technically, that's just because it's a REALLY large line (6 mons, I think?).

Except for Mr.Tusks, who is special.

But the large number of elephants is kind of a joke in and of itself. :P

Two reasons.
First: Because we are making very little progress on finishing the ones we have. If you were to sprite them, moveset and insert them into the game yourself, that one would become pretty irrelevant. So if you want to do the whole thing, you've got a pretty good chance of getting in, but we don't really have a lot of manpower to spare for these tasks.

Second: Balance, distribution, both of these are big deals. Your mon may just not /fit/ mechanically. Maybe it's type is already over-represented in the areas where it is likely to be found, maybe it does it work with the ones we already have. Normally, fixing this would require altering the mon. You've said its a racoon mon, but we might not /need/ a normal type. So you'd have to find a way to combine it with something else or otherwise give it a niche where it isn't redundant or overpowered, and you'd have to make it INTERESTING on top of it. I did like your idea of tying it into the LCS, because I think it actually fits surprisingly well, and it's not a bad idea, so this isn't the most applicable to your situation - but something like "can only be caught in the elven forests in the first evolution" would make the acquisition mechanics interesting as well.

In your case, it's mostly (1). You said you were at least going to sprite it for us, which gets us at least a quarter of the way there - how did that go?

I said my spriting is severely limited,
altough I have been googling around for some spriting tutorials, so it will still take a while.

Scratch that, I am working on it little by little.
But I wonder, what colors are used and which are'nt?

Awesome. ^_^ Anyways, I think its 256 color, so if you choose from those you should be fine. However, note that you get FAR fewer than that for your actual mon... I can't remember the amount, but I think it was.... 15? Maybe 7. You should check first.

I don't know how necessary it is, but I know we were trying to find ways for the rival to keep getting new mons, so it might be worth having a way for him to keep getting new mons. Alternatively, have the description of the coonmons say they're known for faking their own death and let him reuse the same ones?

I'm not sure if it works anymore, but I remember we once discussed the possibility of a running gag of the player constantly finding him doing various minimum wage jobs because he's constantly broke from sending money back to Toady to get his starter/mons replaced
