It turned out that I work best with trainer sprites if I use piece of an already existing one as a base for proportions and body shapes and sizes :3

The troll one is pretty awesome. Maybe the hair could use some shading? The rival's head looks a little wonky. I think there's hair where head should be... just make everything a little bigger and/or move the hair up and it should work out.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I like!

And if I can see correctly, the rival's body's based on the male Pokemon Ranger?

Furtuka, you're already turning out to be really prolific!

Thanks again, also you are correct about the rival sprites source!

So I was making a vigilante/shonen hero or something sprite based off the R/S/E Birdkeeper sprite...

At which point I noticed that there was something familiar about the hair and cape and so...

*Is comteplating going onwards with this one and adding the sword :P

At first I was like 'who dat lol'

and then I was like 'oh it's Cloud'.

Why not have both?

Why not have PkMn Trainer Zoidberg?

Are the character sprites in the git too? Are they in the wiki? These probably are not but are the ones made ages ago?

You got the hair spot on!
Google suggests he sometimes has a beard, so it's your choice whether you want to put that in or not.

Used Glyph's Dwarf sprite to try to make a Holistic sprite based off the description at the end of Syrupleaf. Don't feel happy with the fire and magma bits, if any of you guys are better at those effects be my guest.
