Well, last night, I managed to motivate myself to do some wiki editing. I added all mons from 088 - 118 into the 'Bayomon by numbers page'.

I also opened up the entries from Cat-Clowd to later on, but I only got Cavider and Givider's dex before I realised how late it was.

The Moves themselves look good. They are balanced for the mostpart, and only one area is concentrated with combat moves (Snatch-Psychic, though Dream Eater requires specific conditions, so maybe not.) I have a feeling that adding Confuse Ray sometime between Recover and Psycho Boost would benefit. The one thing I would say about the moveset, level wise, is that moves should not be learned every five levels. Here is some level ranges that I would recommend.

Sorry I'm not more specific, but I'm half asleep right now.

All right, I'll get all the crap secured away tomorrow and start working on maps, methinks. If I remember correctly, you could very well add things to the map, and there was a way to hack the town map itself, but I forget how.

Glyph, did you figure out anything about how merging the ROMs works for mapping?

No, specifically because I can't DO mapping - all the tools are windows only. :/

It works fine with the other rom edits I tried. In order to test the mapping, what I'd really need is for someone to make two different map changes on their own branches (can be whatever, make then junk branches), push them and then let me know.

Is there some specific reason why mon should not learn moves every 5 levels? Other than it being silly? I was just thinking that there could be one mon with weird levelling and dapparition being weird psychic head thingie seemed like good candidate for that.

There shouldn't be an issue with merging mapping changes in general, because it would be very difficult for you to interfere with one map while working on a different one (see reasons below). It's just difficult to know when there would be conflicts if you're doing script/event editing and expand/move the memory location of events.

Reasons plus mapping info: if you make changes that don't fit the allocated memory block AdvanceMap just doesn't save. It doesn't give an error, though, so you have to quit and reload the ROM to know for sure, which then means you lost changes unless you exported the map first. So basically, when you put in a lot of time in a map EXPORT IT AS WELL, don't just save. You can always fiddle with it to reduce the size in memory or load it into a block in a different place if all else fails. I'm not sure how to go about fully deleting maps to free up blocks (it's incredibly messy since I think you have to cut all of the maps after the one you're deleting, delete the map, then paste all of the other maps back), so it's probably best to avoid too much saving-in-a-different-location cases at this point.

@Johuotar: No specific reason why to make mons learn moves at interesting levels, other than to keep it interesting. Like you mentioned, though, this makes it so that mons that learn moves every 5 levels are pretty unique and gives them some flavor of their own. Generally, though, I only remember legendaries learning moves every 5 levels (and it always seemed like a cop out/laziness because they had already leveled past the vast majority of the moves anyway), just as a note.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Well, there was that day when we were all going to be on, but I had to leave before you got on.

Eh, I'll just work on the map a bit tonight and then push it to git, warts and all.

EDIT: I've added the new ROM.

Goodnight. I shall be withdrawing from the project for the next three weeks, after which I will be completely free to work on it again.

Tssss already learns moves every five levels, so the "wierd leveling" already applies to one thing. Also, the original plan for Dapparition was that it would be functional in contests (which we didn't know if we were going to have at the time), hence it's unusual appearance.

@Johuotar: No specific reason why to make mons learn moves at interesting levels, other than to keep it interesting. From what I see by quick bulbapedia/guide searching, this is the case. I fail to see any non-legendary that follows a boring pattern. The reason I recommended the more interesting move ranges is because certain areas (such as the original 15-25 move range) was more condition usefulness moves, which tend to be learned faster than a damage primary move (Such as Psychic). Additionally, status guarentee moves (such as Hypnosis, Confuse Ray, etc.) tend to be learned at a slightly slower rate (except for the Grass and Bug type ones), so I stretched out when they should be learned.

Everything sounds like it's going really well! :) I think I'll trawl through the wiki and perhaps work out some stats for Bayobeasts later. :)

Actually Dappariion's weird appearance comes from the original version of it's sprite that I made one day when I was bored.

On the contrary, several (I want to say most, but can't be arsed to check atm) mons follow a predictable pattern. For instance, Lunatone and Solrock learn a new move every sixth level (level 6N+1) until they run out of moves to learn.

EDIT: Another example: Turtwig learns a move at level 4N+1, Grotle at 5N+2 (not counting moves learned before Turtwig evolves), Torterra at 6N+3 (not counting Earthquake and moves learned before Grotle evolves).

EDIT2: Judging by some mons' movesets, I take it there isn't a day-care/breeding equivalent?
