Gentlemen, I humbly present you with my latest creation:

This would be the second evolution of the series. Its precessor would be smaller and cuter with no bell, while it's succesor would be darker, mouth open and roaring, and a huge cannon on it's back. Dont worry about the background stuff, here's one with no background or text, 64x64 and thus the proper one to use in the game:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hmm. It's something I threw together in paint based on Shakerag's description. Googled some Capybara images for reference, too. I made his body blue to emphasize the fact that he's half a Water type, but the dark paws, ears, silver nails and bell are Steel features. I'm not a great shader but it's better than nothing. Hope you guys like it!

Very nice! That's actually super awesome!

I might tweak it a bit (if you don't mind), but I really love it.

I read through Furtuka's stuff.

It's way better than anything I can write, because he knows all about the dwarf fortress fandom/extended canon.
Perhaps I should sit back and take a different role....

No, screw you! Get to writing! We have a heckuva ton of stuff to write, damn it! And he said basically the EXACT SAME THING. Neither of you have any excuses. MAKE CONTENT. If you really don't think you can beat him on quality, beat him on quantity, damn it!

:P

Edit:
Played with the Capybarung's shading.

If we are ever capable of adding new types, we need to add a Gemstone and Mechanical type pokemon.

We've decided not to add new types. Figuring out how they interact with the old ones is just a bit too confusing, and would distract from the game as a whole. Best to stick with the ones already in. Besides, the Rock type could stand in for Gemstone, and Mechanical is really just part of Steel type.

It's possible to make new cries for pokemon, by the way.

Here's a video tutorial.
Repointing Pokemon cries

And the link to 'PokeCry'
PokeCry download from Mediafire

This can be done last I suppose when we've got everything else finished, but it will be good to get to grips with the program beforehand.

So two current types could be renamed then?

Eh, I'd rather just leave them as they are. Less work all around, especially when we should be concentrating on putting out the final product.

Ask again later on in the project.

You really think psychic is going to fit with the general theme of this?

We need some way to include magic that isn't evil. Plus it's good for technology stuff that doesn't really make sense as steel or electric. This isn't just a DF overhaul of pokemon, it's a Bay12 one. Various B12 games plus references to fandoms that are popular in the forums. It covers a lot of area and we're not really anticipating any shortage of mon ideas to cover the various types, just the effort it takes to sprite/moveset/stat/implement them. We already have a couple psychic mons, actually.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I've been thinking, perhaps there should be a mole-like mon. Given I'm writing some stuff for Syrupleaf at the moment, and Eiba loves his moles.

Ground type probably. Dunno what a name could be.

On the magic stuff, maybe a physic/rock or physic/ice mon based off the Cryswarm from the ridiculously long You are Wizard game?

Also, in our game, "Psychic" is the general term for all the magic mons of various sorts.

It is the ONLY type I'm considering renaming, and it would be renamed to Aetheric or simply Magic or something. But even then I'm honestly content to leave it named the way it is and simply treat it as a "magic" type.

If Dark represents undead pokemon, then shall we rename it to 'Undead' type?
