Korbac, you just need to be creative to get other types. For example, my "cat" creature was electric.

(Cat-2, Cat-5, Catsplosion)

Also, Arena trap wouldn't quite work here since we're assuming it dies (gets triggered) in the process and switches out to another -mon, like Explode combined with Arena Trap, really. Except it can't kill.

Edit : You can edit moves?  :o
I have absolutely no idea. I didn't see anything on it. That was my main reason for suggesting staying with what we have (it's not exactly a small list).

Edit: We have access to everything here up to the Generation 3 moves.

I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

If we can, we can. If we can't, we'll just go with another plan for Kageyu.

I guess we could have an ecSTATIC dwarf as an elec type! Oh ho ho.

Poison - Helmet Snake, Anaconda, Snake Man (Stone) / Giant Serpent (Levelling)

Bug - Cave Beetle, Giant Cave Beetle, BEETLEBORGS (Bug / Steel!)

Also, legendaries - aside from the obvious, which I think might be better of as the E4, how about old versions of DF? All with the Ghost Type. The most current version is some wierd type, like Dark / Rock.

You need to /expand/ on those ideas. They are too boring! You need to DWARFOMON them.

Try to combine them with jokes, or combine multiple concepts into one pokemon, or give them some sort of special type or interesting hook. DF-related is cool, but INTERESTING is the primary goal.

The jokes come from the 'dex entries and what trainers say about them, man! ;) There's only so much you can do with a sprite and a name, and a set of moves we probably can't change. That said, you're probably right. I'll get thinking.  ???

There's more than enough moves that 99% of our ideas should be able to work within them.

And the name is /important/. :P

Give us an example! Do some pokeman sprites for Cat-2/Cat-5/Catsplosion or the Boatborn->Boatmurdered line!

Also, has anyone tried to make use of the repo yet to let me know if its all working correctly?

Tomorrow. Will take some time.

I've figured out the problems that I was having with the transparency. You see, whenever I did step 9 in that tutorial that I linked, paint would change the file from 16 bits to 256 bits, at least for the one that comes with Windows 7. Needless to say, I couldn't load that file into the game, but I could load the file from step 8 (ie, before I saved it in paint). Hopefully I can get Photoshop to respect the fact that it's supposed to have only 16 bits of colour. Nope.

GIMP.

Use GIMP. You can select index color to get it to work right (image>mode>indexed). You can probably index it in photoshop as well, actually.

I've always used GraphicsGale (download link) for sprite stuff. It looks like it'll respect 16 bit color.

Edit: But yeah, GIMP should work too.

The charmander line is part of the conversation. Changing the name works fine.

See?

Now I'm going to fiddle with github, so I can actually share all my (soon to be) hard work.

Quick question: To add my changes to the project, I have to push my commits?
