Hey guys.  I'm just starting to look this over, but this project seems pretty awesome.  I think I'll scan through the entire thread and assorted links tonight/over the next few days.

One idea that came to me just now that I wanted to write down before I forgot:
(Disclaimer: I haven't read through the entire thread, so I don't know if a similar idea has been suggested)

steel/water type
Capybar - Looks like a Capybara with a metal bar-ish body
Capybarung - As above, but slightly larger with bell-shaped protrusion forming on its back.  (Like a bell on it's side, so the top of the bell is near the rear, and the not-yet-open mouth of the bell towards the head)
Capybarrage - Slightly larger, now has a cannon formed from the bell-ish-shape from the previous stage.

Interesting?  Something similar already suggested?  Looking forward to seeing if this project is something I could get into.

:D It's good to see concepts that properly integrate the element/quirkiness factor into their design.

Oooh, I really like that idea.

Is anyone working on putting stuff into the game? It's hard to focus on plot and dialogue when I feel like none of it will get added in, and it will still be a bit before I get my computer. I've done the unthinkable though, and changed my avatar to support the game!

I'm gonna be on tonight and give a third go at the Unicron sprite. (If only to fill out my Avatar) I'll also be in chat if anyone is interested, only seen drakon on lately.

Oooh I should change my avatar... then I'd have a nice reminder to work on this whenever I saw one of my own posts. I think I have a pretty free night, so I could work on doing something. Ideally probably moveset/stats or mapping because that's the most fun for me, but I'll see what makes most sense when I get home and get in the chat.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I'll try to get onto the chat tonight as well, seeing as I'm busy for almost all of next week. No idea what I'll do though. Probably just moral support, and maybe work on the sprites that I've been putting off for a long time now. Or maybe I can do some of the grunt work. Whatever will help move the project forward.

Yeah, I've been inactive lately, mostly because I'm doing too much other stuff. Stupid past Monk keeps thinking that he attempt more than he can accomplish :P

Shakerag, that Capybara mon is awesome, and you are awesome.

Gryph, I heartily endorse your avatar change- I'm REALLY tempted to switch to Mewstew, but I really like space coyote...

Next one will be added to the rotation, and then I'll be all three starters :P

I think we might be able to pull off a better color scheme... anyone want to play around with it a bit? Simple pallete swap and try some other combos?

I see it now! Yeah, the perspective and the general size makes it tricky to make out. Not sure what else to make it, though. As regards color scheme, I actually like the white/purple. If you feel like being experimental, how about pink body green hair? It is psychic/grass after all.

I'm actually feeling really bad about that last sprite. Not because it looks bad, but because it's almost a direct copy from the reference material. All the others were really "mine", you know? But that one? The colours and spritework is mine, but the pose is totally lifted, and it makes me feel like shit.

Damn my conscious... I might have to toss it out and start over. :/

Hm. Were I the one redesigning it (ha!) I'd probably shoot for something like Rapidash in Gen IV, or better, the Japanese version of Gen I- less actiony, more majestic, in contrast to the alternate evolution. It'd be interesting if you could get the mane and... uh, hoof hair parts (what are those called...) to look like vines or leaves.

Then again, from everything I've heard horses are hard as hell to draw right, and nobody is going to fault you for taking the path of least resistance to insure the project actually sees completion.

Wait, there are going to be shiny versions of all the mons right? And those are basically just palette swaps right?

If so, then I might be able to do the grunt work of recoloring all the sprites later when they're all done. If given a rough color scheme, of course.

Still not happy with Perlihorn, but made some changes and now I'm more happy at least.

It's better than it was, but it's still not quite right.

I'm thinking it's something in the eyes. Specifically, I THINK they're too close together- pony heads are broader, eyes on the sides. Looking at various references (including but not limited to MLP, Ponyta/Rapidash, and actual horses) I'm noticing that you can't really see both eyes unless they're looking at the fourth wall.

^^Selected for same general stance. You've got the general head shape down (maybe have the head taper down more instead of that strongish-chin) but I'm thinking we shouldn't see nearly as much of that back eye. Just my extremely uninformed opinion :P
