A note on mapping: do not make new maps for outside areas. Inside areas, those are fine. You just use warps to get in and out of those. But if you make a new map and try and connect it to others in the overworld it just will not work. Speaking from experience here.

Thanks for the tip. We just edit existing outside maps then?

Starter suggestions:

Water: Some form of carp. Evolving into a water/ghost skeleton carp.
Fire: A small, burning elephant. Probably named after that one elephant form Boatmurdered.
Grass: a tiny badass elf named Cacame.

Are you sure the starters should be multityped? traditionaly, they were straight fire/water/grass with only the later evolves being multiple types. So, logically, uncarp would be:

Water, Water/Something/ Water something, rather than a water/dark at the outset.

It partially because we want the battle at the start to be unwinnable if you pick perlihon because its designed to be terrible until it evolves
