Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Movement restrictions are currently utterly messed up.

I like it! The only thing that still looks a bit out of whack (other than the two-tone stone, which is actually kind of neat after looking at it for a little bit) is the stairs in the upper right. They could probably be removed all together because you're not actually changing elevation there (judging by the adjacent walls, at least). Also, just out of curiosity and interest, to the bridges work? Can you walk underneath and over top of them from the different directions?

Edit: Haha just noticed your movement restrictions note. My concern is that I'm not sure if Fire Red knows how bridges should work, since I'm not super convinced they exist in the game. I guess we'll see, though!

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

The stairs in upper right are there because of the ledge on the right, but youre right. They should either be improved or removed.

I hope that the bridges can be made to work because there's movement restriction block "3C"
Quote
3C - The final movement permission, this allows crossing above and below as long as the correct Levels and Tiles are used around it."
Thats the one USEC used, but I dont think he ever tested the map.  :-\

EDIT: The different tones of stone are because the two types of terrain underneath it. I'm not sure how to improve the situation.

Alright, cool. I remembered seeing a movement restriction block for them but I couldn't find it later when I was looking for it.

I see what you're talking about with the stairs now. I'd kind of taken to thinking of the ledges not really as elevation changes so that was where I was coming from. Also, there are a couple tile errors:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Taking another look at the upper left corner, the elevations still don't really match up.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The dark path is one elevation level up from the brown stone level below it and one level down from the gray stone to the right, but the gray stone is also one level above the brown stone below. Also, the gray stone (which I think is supposed to be 3 levels up from the floor) is on the same level as the brown stone to the right of it (which is one level up from the floor).

Alright I removed the stairs and fixed the tile errors, but that elevation thing sure is tricky to get right.  :/
I'll work on this a bit more.

Alright the elevation should look better now. I also made some changes to the dirt in the upper path and added crater detail near the exit.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think this map overwrote some other road, is that the way to do it if I start making, lets say Headshoots? Create new one or edit stock maps or does it even matter?

Oh right and I need to think how to deal with github. Do I even have access to the files, I dont think I have.

I'll work on the movement restrictions now.

Much better! There might still be a tile error or two, but I didn't see anything in the quick look I took. The elevation can definitely be tricky, especially with those bridges making minor optical illusion by covering things up. If you're making a new map it's probably easiest to modify an existing one, but it can be a bit tricky since you don't want to make it bigger than the one you're modifying or you run into memory problems. If you make a new one you have to do some setup with defining what kind of map it is (aboveground/cave/etc; important mostly because that's how the game know how to do wild pokemon encounters), music, location/adjacent maps, and what the edge tiles are (actually that reminds me, you might run into issues with the edge tiles on this map... oh well we can figure that out once you put it in the game).

Alright I did the movement restrictions, I'd like to test them but I'm not sure if this map is connected to anything. Anyway, how do I get the modified rom to the project? I dont have any other than read-only rights atm.

Okay the connection to the Deep road definitely doesnt work.  :o  Probably not caused by my edits. EDIT: Tested the earlier rom and yeah its the same thing. Probably just Deep Road not being connected to anything causing this.

I think this map overwrote some other road, is that the way to do it if I start making, lets say Headshoots? Create new one or edit stock maps or does it even matter?

I overwrote Route 2, the one between Credulan (That is its name, right? I never played Red/Blue or FireRed/LeafGreen) and... whatever. By overwrote I mean that I changed the size of the map and the tile and whatnot. Everything else from Route 2 should still be the same, including the map points (or whatever).

Alright I did the movement restrictions, I'd like to test them but I'm not sure if this map is connected to anything. Anyway, how do I get the modified rom to the project? I dont have any other than read-only rights atm.

Since Deep Road still has the same connections as Route 2, I'm not surprised. After all, you enter Route 2 from the south, and Deep Road should be entered from the right. Credulan should be completely reworked before we worry about the connections on Deep Road.

Remember the whole thing about punching babies? I haven't tested the map at all.

Oh, and one final thing. I named the map Deep Road because the brown dirt/tile was supposed to represent a road between the two towns. Also so that I can make puns (but that's not as important). If you're going to submit your modifications to github, would you mind reconnecting the road between the two exits (ie the ones on the left and right)? That would be nice. Other than that, it's pretty snazzy! Less bridges than I would have liked, but still snazzy!

Route 2 is between Pewter City and Mt. Moon. You mean Cerulean city with Credulan? Thats where you end up after going through Mt. Moon. That really confused me there for a while. :P
That does explain the weird triggers or what theyre called, theyre route 2 leftovers that werent removed. Good to know.

Okay, no worrying about connections for now. Headshoots and the rest need to be done so the connections can make sense anyway. Testing if the bridges work can be done when we get there.

As I've said, I cant update the file to Github because I dont have rights to do that, or then I'm just doing something terribly wrong.

I'm going to make the brown dirt look more like road, but the one big rock that blocks it is supposed to be cave in. I can change it if you want though.

Has Glyph given you permission yet?

Ah, that's what I thought it was. I'm just saying so because not all of the dirt is following the path correctly (if that makes sense).

I dont think I have permission, so I'll have to get that. At least now I know Glyph is the one to ask. I need to find out how using git works too, but I'll probably leave that for tomorrow as I dont even have permission to upload the changes anyway yet.

Some of the dirt is where it is because some other tiles add small fractions of it, so I added more so it wouldn't look out of place. I know what you mean and I might look into making path out of the dirt later.

Excellent. Good luck with git. It can be kinda obtuse to set up, but it's very simple to use once everything is ready.

I got Git and Smartgit 3 that were in the OP, even Smartgit looked a bit confusing but I'll read some tutorial tomorrow, but for now I'll have to go.
