What about Grass / Fire? I mean, it's made out of natural fiber. (And I doubt it's been done before?)  :)

Psychic/fire sounds good, I'm not sure how grass/fire would work. Most weakneses would be nefated rkght? Must check type weskness tables to find any possible balance problem I quess.

It's weak against Posion, Rock, and Flying, strong against Steel and Elec, and awesome against Grass.

Looks solid to me.

Methinks imgur also works ducky.

I'll add the shining eyes in the shadow for the basic form when I have the time. Evolutions=burning sock ? Multiple socks? Multiple burning socks?

Actually, I made the original version not to be burning. Should I change it?

I think the final version shouldn't be inside boots, though >.> Physic-fire & sturdy baymon doesn't sound balanced... and if the boot'd version was thought to be strong but isn't, then its a let down! A con! A fake!

Maybe a trio of socks? Or what if it started normal, progress to a smoldering sock, and then to an all-out raging sockfire?

So many possibilities, with these sockmons.

I like the idea of a shadowy sock puppet, so I'd say it's good without fire. Maybe some shadowy fog like other people were suggesting, though. As for evolutions, I kind of like the idea of either going further with the sock puppet-ness and having the sock turn into a malevolent looking, burning sock puppet OR having the sock unravel a bit and have the spirit part become more pronounced, maybe with a pair of the socks.

I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Is the pokemon that evolves into two different versions in the Emerald version we're using?
I think it was... uh... Actually, I don't remember. o_o... It would be nice if we have such a mon, so we could do both !!Pig Tail Sock [3]!! and Animated Pig Tail Sock. It's too bad we can't use the more recent versions, those have hundreds of Pokemon slots we could use :P ((Not to mention a probably larger palette))

If we have divergent evolution slot available,
Pig Tail Sock - Pig Tail Sock [3] - !!Pig Tail Sock [3]!!
                                           L Animated Sock

If not,

PTS - PTS3 - !!PTS3!!, with PTS3 smoldering.

Or we could insert PTS in a slot that uses a Fire Stone to evolve and do PTS - PT3 - w/Fire Stone !!PTS3!!

Is the Ninjask line available? I'd like to use it if it is, for the divergent line goodness. With Animated Sock being in the husk slot.

We have access to quite a lot of space for adding mons and we don't have to use the same style of evolution as the mon we overwrite. We have access to any of the evolution styles present in gen 3 and branching evolution isn't anything particularly special, it's just two regular evolution options on a single mon (and I think we can do basically as many evolution options as we want on a single mon).

I think the boot idea is dumb, to be honest, and we've got a couple mons that become more mons already at this point, I think. And it doesn't really fit.
I would like another non-evolving mon, truth be told. And I think a floating sock puppet willothewisp would work great for that.

If we do want it to evolve I think if anything it should go something like:
Basic sock puppet - just an inverted floating sock that looks like it MAY have eyes. Grass Type
Detailed sock poppet - This sock actually looks like a living creature. Aggressive. Perhaps a hint of the spirit behind the sock as a shadowy arm heading inside.

With a stone, it becomes a burning sock puppet, grass/fire.
With a tomestone it becomes a much clearer version of the spirit and more of a trickster spirit with a sock puppet than an actual sockmon. Grass/Ghost? Maybe Grass/Psychic.

The thing you need to remember when you're making a mon (at least the style we're going for) is that you don't want the mon to just be a sock. Yeah, it's a reference, but it's kind of incomplete. You can't just have a Bayomon called "Pig Tail Sock" in the same way you don't have a Pokemon called "kangaroo." Make it a combination of things. That's why we like the willowisp/trickster spirit/sock puppet thing. It's a reference, yes, but there are two or three other concepts in there, plus some personality. Ideally the name would be a clever combination of references as well (look to the mons GlyphGryph named for some examples I think are particularly clever).

Saukriboo made me burst out laughing at work. Congrats. All it needs is a little burning beret.
