Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

if I have $5 bucks to spare after I buy a game, but someday
You must not realize what Toady and Threetoe go through to bring us  DF. Here's an article you should read: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/24/magazine/the-brilliance-of-dwarf-fortress.html?pagewanted=all
If you don't feel like reading the whole thing; Toady survives on soda and one meal a day, lives in a small apartment, has a wooden board clamped over his window so he can code through the night, and turned down 300K for the title of DF, not to mention a high profile programming job (In a presumably prestigious workplace). He's probably going to die of sugar overdose or something before 1.00 comes out.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

So, I'm beginning to get bored with Skyrim,
What?! Unless you have played 200+ hours and discovered everywhere in this game, maybe sometimes sitting there just listening to the music, killed a mammoth, burnt every Jarl in every hold and viciously slaughtered Lydia in every way imaginable, I don't believe you can be bored of it.

When you look past all that and think that you have been wasting over 50 hours on doing virtually the same shit you realize that the game has 10 hours worth of content boredom sets in. Or at least it happened to me.

How about serious sam BFE?
So far its pretty enjoyable except the first few levels. I have been playing it with my roomie and we are having crazy fun(everything bursts into candy)

If you want flight simulators, I'm permanently looking for people to fly with me on IL2 Sturmovik: 1946 :) My squad's gone MIA :(
I'm in the same predicament as you, so I'd be happy to fly with you if you want.
On topic: I back up the Arma and IL-2 recommendations. They are both brilliant games, even of they can be frustrating at times.

Cool, how about we use a LP thread for IL2 to set up playing times for B12? I'll post on there!

I tried the demo, but ... well, it was hard to get into, very clunky interface. Perhaps I should've dug further, but I've already got my hands full. At those prices, I just skip. I've bought maybe 2 games above $10-$15... I guess I'm a cheap bastard.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

I would really like to try Serious Sam BFE, since I enjoyed The First Encounter.

Panzer Corps!  It's 20 bones right now on the dev website, until Dec 6th.  You know, if you're into WWII battlefield strategy.  It's very well made.

Can you explain what gives you joy in those games? For some reason I still haven't gotten sold on 2 dimensional hex wargames. How much of it isn't just throwing dice?

Just trying to figure out whether this is something I'm interested in :)
