Hyper Princess Pitch - Awesome.
« on: December 01, 2011, 12:21:08 am »

So the creator of Iji, Hero Core, and garden gnome carnage, Daniel Remar has finished up his latest game, Hyper Princess Pitch. Free game, Reminds me mostly of Smash TV, which is always a good thing.

Have a trailer.

And a link to a download.

And as with most of Daniel's Games there's likely to be tons of secret junk just lying around so get to it! I've been having a lot of fun with it.

Oh also, the game is incredibly short, four levels, but is designed to be played multiple times. You get "Protips" which are hidden features for beating each difficulty level.

Obviously I am downloading it!

As soon as you mentioned Iji, I knew I had to download this. Looks epic and amazing.

Yeah it isn't a massive game, but you unlock more cheats and hidden stuff the more difficulty levels you beat it on.

Also there's still something in Protips that I don't understand so I'm tryin to figure that out. :P

As soon as you mentioned Iji SMASH TV, I knew I had to download this. Looks epic and amazing.

It really looks like an updated Smash TV...with a princess and mecha santa. This is in no way a bad thing.

I never played Smash TV. Doesn't mean I'm not enjoying this :D

All I meant was that I enjoy Daniel's stuff.

This wins on trailer alone.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

"I AM THE GODDESS OF EXPLOSIONS"
"I know Mom... Sheesh"

That cracked me up...

After noticing the mention of it on RPS , remembering the fun of Smash TV, and that the author has made that great Iji game, i had to try and ... it's tremendous fun.
Just completed the Trainee difficulty and was rather amused by one of the unlock :D
edit : completed 3 difficulty modes, and the difficulty progression is very good, each difficulty level see bosses having new attacks, minions getting more numerous and quick, lots of insane fun at higher difficulty levels.

If you like to play windowed, and if it works on your OS, use the GM5 version, as the GM7 windowed mode is really very small and apparently not resizable (unless i missed something).

Pretty sure both windowed modes are very tiny as the sprites themselves are very tiny, and pixel art doesn't take well to resizing. :P

What are the controls?  Is it a two-stick shooter?  (I never got the hang of those.)

the GM5 windowed mode is twice the size of the GM7 one for me.

No, fortunately, unlike smashtv in coin-op, Pitch is using a "1 controller scheme".

I play with keyboard, and there you only have to move with wasd/cursor key then as long as you press the fire key, the character will continue to fire in that direction, while you can continue to move in any direction.
