Had an impossible week, just starting with the intent to finish it this weekend.

3rd Granite

I regret accepting the task of Expedition Leader, what with all the old events, old issues, old battles and old plans I have to know before I can perfect this block of rock in the sun.

Today I finished catching up, and I found a number of important issues to handle.
  • it seems the well froze (although a secondary well underground was built). That's besides the fact that it's too far outside the block for my liking.
  • there are magnificent plans to bring magma to the surface, using a huge piston made from the land itself. Some minor issues to handle are the size of it, and the mines and caverns in it's path.
  • I must understand the military structure and needs, it seemed so simple at first...
  • the place is as protected as my old fishers cabin, four walls and a door, or a drawbridge in this case. It must be reinforced.
  • it's so damn packed in here, I can't take a breath without someone's hair getting in my nose!

By the end of the day, I was informed that Likot Tathtatastesh withdrew from society, locking himself in the clothier's workshop

Far outside well adds some hardcore to "Give water" and "Clean Self" tasks.  :D

Yep, if you don't count tree cutting as part of soapmaking.

7th Granite

Today two Draltha were discovered in the lower cassiterite branches, Lolor Netfights and Lokum made scraps from it.
On another note, it seems I have two unlabeled levers, which I tested to discover their use.
One is for the entrance bridge(nothing injured during the testing) and they say the second will be for the Magma Rock Pison, sent someone to put stickers on both.
I've finished laying the piston's plans and it's in a terrible place, it cuts through a dozen layers of caverns and mines, but I'll solve that when the time comes.

11th Granite

Likot Tathtatastesh, Weaver has created Etagmat, "Bigbent", a cave spider silk cap!

Hmmm... Burning slave humans, I need some of those to heat my room during those cold winter days while eating Nish's Delicious Cow Tallow Cake.

13th Granite
Don't ask me how, they found adamantine! It's in a cavern breached in the piston's path.
They told me today that the glass pump my predecessor ordered can't be made without sand, which can't be collected without bags. It took 'em a month to figure it out!

    The Sunken Logs of Sunkwell.

The miners don't consider the tombs a high enough priority, and they won't dig it.
I think there are some hidden holes to the caverns, because monsters get past the cage traps.
The piston goes through a number of caverns, bringing hordes of crundles.
I've reached the end of the month without any major events.
Sleepy sleep time!

Hunters brigade! Just make enough bolts.
Or "defend burrow" mlitary alert. Crundles, troglodites and such is good practice for soldiers.

21st Slate
The Crundles' nest is blocked, but they still manage to seep in!
People are getting injured and the doctor is in a party!

They have spilled too much dwarf blood, now we're taking the fight to them, We'll finish this pest infestation at their nest, strike as hard and as fast as possible, we won't let their primitive instincts kick in before they are all dead!
GLORY FOR ROTBANE!

They've scattered to the tiny tunnels of the caverns, forcing us to fight them one on one, but in the end, they were nothing but dust compared to our Courage.
They are no more.

23rd Slate
A few missing dwarves were reported, presumably stuck in the caverns we've blocked, I wonder why don't they think for themselves and understand the importance of doors. I'd assume they all know basic masonry before putting down the rocks, I'm sure they can figure out a design easily blocked by boulders when the need arises while allowing dwarves passage when it's still safe, or at least a passage to safety.

I believe the piston's construction will have no more slowdowns. I'm sending Bim Drinkmine on a full-time job to pump the magma into the piston's lower tank as soon as the party ends (this is a good type of party to celebrate the squishing of the crundle vermin).

I use this wall design

Code: [Select]

 + OUTSIDE
 + OUTSIDE
 + OUTSIDE
 #+
+ = walls
# = wall to be built
This way guarantees your Dorfs not walling themselves off, as they require them to be standing adjacent to the tile they're building.

Placing this in the OP for no specific reason other than I like it.

Nice fort so far, I've always wondered what crundles were.  I JUST researched them on the wiki, they seem like gremlins to me.

My weekend is over, and a helluva week ahead of me, meaning I can't continue.
Uploading the save just in case you deem it playable enough what with all the caverns in the piston
and the complete trash.

The piston is mostly designated through about 4 caverns full of monsters.
I counted 2 dwarves stuck in the caverns hunting or foraging, now that a wall was built(I know how to build walls without trapping them on the wrong side, it's just that these 2 went deep inside for treasures).
2 miners got stuck digging the piston, rescue masons were sent.
Anubis(and two more) is badly injured in the hospital and I'm pretty sure the doctor's party isn't over yet.
Some renegade curdles infest the bloodthorn cavern and I've had reports of antmen.
It's mid-spring so I didn't have must progress(just the two months).
Bim Drinkmine drank my wine ~~ KILL KILL KILL!!
