Prisoners?
« on: November 30, 2011, 04:21:14 pm »

So I start up an adventure mode game and I walk right into the house I spawn outside of, and there's a flashing white goblin in there with the profession of "prisoner".  Talking to him causes him to ask me to take him away, which selecting Join allows him to do.  Talking to the other humans causes them to say that they "hope my friends can dissuade me from this foolishness".  What exactly is this phenomena and how does it work?

Well, honestly I'm not personally familiar with this ever happening!

But it sounds really cool!

I have seen goblin prisoners in fortresses, but never in a house.

It is basically a goblin that has been captured during a war, and using mind control it is not allowed to leave the building it is held in until you release him.

The second part is just a saying when you hav some companions...
I had some Orcs capture a Gremlin prisoner and the prisoner became shogun....somehow....

I'm taking him to the capital of the Orcish civ. So far he killed a diablos and a cyclops.

Well, in theory, you can. My adventurer Ivanka came from a human civ at war with an elf civ. Even though I was a hero to them for slaying something or another, they still said "Don't talk to me" and attacked.

So I killed them all. Well, two thousand or so of them. Returning to finish the job soon.

...No they don't. The only things that respawn in DF are animals.

Even animals have a limit.  At least in previous versions, it was fully possible to empty out a biome so that it had no beasts left to attack you.  I recall a thread about how it would still drop you down out of the travel map periodically, but there would never be anything there...

Is it possible to cause a Civilization to declare war on anothe in adventure mode?
This would affect Dwarf mode?

Yes. Just take people from civ A and attack a site of civ B, this will cause civ B to become hostile to you (that belongs to civ A), and then all civ A will be hostile to civ B. This will only affect fortress mdoe if you settle near an enemy civ, they might besiege you I guess.

Good way to make Elves rage quit on your fort.
