Hrm, maybe you'd be interested in stuff like Avatar then, Telgin.

If anything I think cartoons of today are reaching if not surpassing the old 80s cartoons. We're back to the point where "kids" cartoons aren't 100% fluff anymore. There's still a lot of trash but there was a lot back then too; nostalgia filters out all the stuff that wasn't good :)

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

My heart aches to have Molly back on Rocketboom (Kind of a science/entertainment vlog).

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Yes, very yes.  I miss a lot of the cartoons from this era, like Sonic the Hedgehog, ReBoot, Swatkats, Tail Spin, the list goes on.

Oh god, TailSpin. I remember watching the series when it was originally airing. In 2007 or so, Toon Disney started showing reruns of it. The entire recording screen was filled with episodes.

True enough, I suppose.  Maybe I'm just bitter about the cartoons I like getting canned (Sonic the Hedgehog, Swatkats, Reboot for a while, probably more) or spiraling into mediocrity (Spongebob and The Fairly Oddparents for more recent examples).  I did watch Avatar a bit, and it wasn't bad but I never did really get into it that much.  I think I was put off by the fact that it was anime styled, and I'm truly and utterly sick of anime.  Judging Avatar by its own merits though, it seemed like an engaging story and was interesting.  Just didn't click with me for some reason.

I miss having a car that worked. I miss having a car that didn't cost $1000+ to fix.

I also miss waffles. I don't make nearly enough waffles these days.

I miss playing in the sand, making castles and cities and everything you could think up a story for.
I miss adventures that I had as a kid, exploring, fighting, breaking stuff, putting stuff together.
I miss those old cartoons everybody knows (Mighty Max, Digimon, Scooby Doo and countless others).
I also miss when ice cream costed half as much as it does today and was about three times bigger too.
I miss some of my friends really badly, not sure if I can go for such long periods without them.
I miss a lot of things and I realize missing them probably won't bring them back, but heck, it's good remebering them ^_^

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

the first time I play any game I enjoyed (save for DF, it was a few times in I enjoyed it most)

There's a lot to be said for this, actually.  I always enjoy games most when I'm still learning them.  It's exciting to learn a new game.  Everquest did this for me longer than any other game because of the utter lack of hand holding early on.

Once I've mastered a game, I never enjoy it as much again.  I think that's one of Dwarf Fortress' strongest points.  You pretty much can't master it.

I miss being surrounded by the challenge of the unknown. When I was younger, I knew basically nothing about anything, and I had a blast doing everything in every direction at once. Now that I've been at it for a while and outpaced the (admittedly slow) school curriculum, I have to find specific targets to learn about. It's now a rare time where I can say, "I don't have a clue what this means." and then dive into it. To get that kind of feeling now, it's either Wikipedia's Random Page function or programming. Maybe I should take another foreign language or two.

This is going to sound pretty stupid, but I really miss the sort of installers games used to have back in the DOS era. Back then, companies had to design their own installers, and they often wound up rather unique. Nowadays, it's just the generic install progress bar, sometimes with a slideshow.
