Peculiarly Secretive...
« on: November 28, 2011, 04:56:31 pm »

So, recently a dwarf of mine was hit by a strange mood. He ran off into the hills and is sitting there, doing nothing. I checked the wiki for anything related to this, but nope, it list the mood as similar to a fey mood, only the demands are made differently.

Due to this dwarf being a High Master Fisherdwarf, I'm very worried about losing him/her. Any suggestions? I've thought of channeling underneath the dwarf, but I want to ask first.

If the dwarf doesnīt go to find a workshop, then you donīt have a workshop of the correct type. Without any moodable skills itīs tricky to know which kind he wants, so just make one of every kind. I assume you allready have mason, carpenter, craftsdwarfs workshop, so try to get the odd ones, like forge, jewellers, leatherworks, clothier. Once you have the one he wants, heīll run to it.

When the don't have any of the big skills you ususally need a craftsdwarfs workshop.

It is the Craftsdwarf shop. He claimed it immediately after I made one, since it was still early summer and hadn't gotten around to making anything.

On the bright side, you now have a legendary bone carver.

The weapon is useless in combat, but you can certainly put it in a weapon trap to boost a noble's room value.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Well.... this is odd.

Test it out against animals, it's probably too dull to rend flesh but it'll hit hard and often so if it's hefty enough it might not be useless.

Or give it to said fisherdwarf in a 1-dwarf squad so he'll take that when he's out fishing... hell it might save him a bit. not much. but a bit. so he's only missing 3 appendages instead of four by the time your military gets to him.

EDIT: Yes the mood you're talking about was on the wiki - you didn't look hard enough. Ctrl-f (or cmd-f) and search 'secretive'. It's there.

Perfect opportunity to set up justice, this weapon will serve your sheriff well and probably won't kill a single dwarf in the process.  But who knows... have fun

I meant the "run to the hills" part. I know the different moods fairly well, but I couldn't understand what was wrong. I thought he'd claim a random workshop, and then he/she would start on a random artefact.

Ceremonial swords are great, and bone isn't sharp or particularly dense.

Then again, it is an artifact. I gave my captain a ceremonial badger bone warhammer, and he promptly used it to find Urist McRandomScapegoat and break his pancreas.
