I'm not sure how this is supposed to work, but doing 'x' and then cycling through squads to try to set their various orders often just focuses on some squads and skips others.  It maybe that it is supposed to lock on to just squads with dwarves nearby, but then you have to go into units, jump to some dwarf in the unit, then do x again - even then it tends to give me the few larger squads instead of the smaller ones I'm looking for.  If +/- simply cycled through all squads in order, that would be more intuitive and work a lot better.

+/- is supposed to do that, but there have been several reports it is doing bizarre things instead.  On the list...

In my case, + cycles through some squads, and - through all of them. Save file available.

I think I'll just take a stab at it myself first.  With this kind of thing, it should be fairly obvious.

I wouldnt say that. I have 3 squads, + cycles 2 and 3, while - cycles between 1 and 2, or 1 and 3...

It seems to be related to how the squads are organized. If you promote squads straight down the list on the military screen it seems to handle them fine, but if you take a unit in the middle of the list and promote them over a couple units at random, and form all your squads like that, then the cycling gets thrown off.
