Skyrim Blackreach - This is what the Caverns look like
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:23:04 am »

Minor spoilers ahead.

Been playing Skyrim lately (of course) and just reached the part in the main storyline where you are sent to a Dwemer settlement - but not like we've seen before. this is the DEEP settlement, down in the bedrock of the world. And it made me giggle with glee, cuz it looks a lot like what I imagined the deep caverns are like in DF. Heck, a lot of my mental images of DF are somewhat based around Dwemer ruins, anyway, and this only helps. It's gorgeous!

Dwemer are pretty similar to dwarfs of DF. I like them to be more and more alike in the future

Reading his name would trigger it. Thinking of him would trigger it. No other circumstances would trigger it- it was strictly related to the concept of Bill Clinton entering the conscious mind.

I was actually playing Skyrim + Requiem and ended up going to Blackreach for the big quest item just recently. I always thought of our dwarves to be more Tolkien-like. Though I must admit I have always really loved the Dwemer ruins in the Elder Scrolls.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Returning to the forums after a lengthy absence, it was quite surprising to see that one of my posts had replies in 2016. Especially given that it was completely ignored when I posted it. *sniffle*

Despite technically being elves, TES dwemer are pretty dwarfy. They live in massive underground complexes filled with random death traps, perform horrific experiments on people from the surface, and accidentally destroyed their entire species building a doomsday device.

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

And afterwards life was preserved in some of the deeper mineshafts. Splendid!

There wasn't any 'accidental' about it, the goal of Numidium was to unmake reality by shouting "NO!" really loudly at it- because the Dwemer hated living in a world where things didn't have to make sense to be true. They just miscalculated on the precise area of effect for their super-weapon.
